The Loveless Cafe LLC is a dynamic group consisting of full-service restaurant dining, various retail shops, two on-site event spaces, on-site and off-site event catering, a food truck, a quick-service restaurant and a convenience store operation. Most notably is the famous Loveless Cafe, which is visited by guests from around the globe!

The Loveless Events team is seeking an experienced Events Head Chef who will work with the Event Catering Team and Sous Chef.

Position purpose
The Events Head Chef will oversee the daily operations of the establishment’s kitchen staff. As the Head Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing food preparation, ordering supplies, scheduling shifts, and monitoring inventory levels.

Operational Functions:

· Assume 100% responsibility for quality of products served.

· Thorough understanding of all company policies, procedures, standards, specifications, guidelines and training programs.

· Consistently comply with department’s standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures.

· Achieve company objectives in sales, service quality, appearance of facility and sanitation and cleanliness through training of employees and creating a positive, productive working environment.

· Order materials, disposable products, kitchen supplies, and ingredients based on demand and par level requirements.

· Fill in where needed to ensure guest service standards and efficient operations.

· Ensure that all equipment is kept clean and in excellent working condition through personal inspection and by following the department’s preventative maintenance programs.

· Ensure all products are received in correct unit count and condition, and deliveries are performed in accordance with the department’s receiving policies and procedures.

· Guarantee proper receipt and storage of all food products practicing FIFO, and all health department standards and guidelines.

· Fully understand and comply with all federal, state, county and municipal regulations that pertain to health, safety and labor requirements of the restaurant, employees and guests.

· Review and act on any information provided by our internal health inspections or the health inspections conducted by the Metro Health Department.

· Ensure that the entire kitchen is being held to the standards laid out by the Department of Agriculture and that all food items, equipment, and the facility are meeting current requirements.

· Provide advice and suggestions to the General Manager as needed.

· Perform other related duties as assigned by the General Manager and the Executive Chef when applicable.

People Management & Leadership Functions:

· Make employment and termination decisions consistent with company guidelines for approval or review.

· Scout, interview, hire, facilitate training, review, coach, discipline, and terminate department employees.

· Effectively communicate and delegate tasks to guarantee success when you are away from the kitchen.

· Continually strive to develop your staff in all areas of managerial and professional development.

· Be knowledgeable of department’s policies regarding personnel and administer prompt, fair and consistent corrective action for any and all violations of company policies, rules and procedures.

· Facilitate the success of all positions either through helping when busy or making sure the employees have the tools and training needed to succeed.

· Attend and participate in any assigned committee meetings or committee projects.

· Attend and actively participate in all scheduled employee meetings, manager meetings, and other staff meetings.

· Communicate any needs required to be successful achieving all departmental goals. The lack of success in any one criterion cannot be overlooked if the needs to achieve this goal are not requested.

Administrative Functions:

· Prepare all required digital and/or paper forms, reports and schedules in an organized and timely matter.

· Schedule labor as required by anticipated business activity while ensuring that all positions are staffed when and as needed, and that labor cost objectives are met.

· Tracking and control of all inventory levels, food cost, labor cost, disposable cost, and other costs controlled by department on a daily basis.

· Other administrative functions as assigned by General Manager.

Supervisory Responsibility:
This position will have direct reports and may be responsible for scheduling.

Work Environment:
Work involves considerable exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, grease, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises.

Physical Demands:
The employee must be able to stand for long periods of time, up to 9 hours. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift or move objects up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift or move objects up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must have stamina to work 50 hours per week as needed.

Work Authorization:
Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Qualifications:

· HS diploma or GED required

· Must be 21 years of age

· A minimum of three years of restaurant or catering management operations

· A college degree is preferred, a Bachelor of Science in hotel/restaurant management or Bachelor of Business Administration is desired

· Valid Tennessee Driver’s License

· Must have availability to work a changing schedule, including nights, holidays, and weekends

Preferences:

· Multi-lingual

· Serve Safe Certified, or willingness to obtain within 3-months of hire

· Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs

· Experience with Food and Beverage Industry Software (POS, Reservation, To Go)

· Creative, highly motivated, eager, and enthusiastic while implementing company policies, standards, programs and procedures
