What are the responsibilities and job description for the Preschool Support Educator position at Loving Neighbors Preschool?

Loving Neighbors Preschool is a new full time child care program, located in Northern Lakes Community Church, providing loving care for approximately 28 children, infant thru preschool. We are seeking Assistant Teachers (either full time or part time) to join our wonderful team. We are excited to have you come see us and experience the positive and caring environment we have created for our staff and the children they are looking after.

Our Assistant Teacher positions start immediately.

Education
High School Diploma

Other Education Requirements

CPR and First Aid Certified and other training- We can help with all of this!

Other Requirements
18 years or older
Able to support the mission statement of our preschool program:
Loving Neighbors Preschool fosters development of children in their formative years and works with families for their eductional, physical, emotional, spiritual and social development.

Willing and able to pass a background check.

Ability to work independently and with a team.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Experience in a licensed child care setting with Infants, Toddlers or Preschool Children a plus, but not required. Each candidate will be reviewed based on their experience, desire to work with children, and enthusiasm for this role!

Assistant Teacher Job Description:

Classroom / Learning

Foster a positive and caring teaching and learning atmosphere with coworkers and children.

You will be expected to create a safe and supportive classroom environment that encourages exploration, play, and creativity.

Become very familiar with Teaching Strategies (TS) curriculum. Assist lead teachers in implementation of lessons.

Assist in helping to monitor and note development milestones for each child.

Maintain a organized classroom.

Clean as needed throughout the day to maintain a sanitary environment for the children.

Stay current with best practices in early childhood education and incorporating them into the classroom.

Meet the individual needs of each child.

Assist the Lead Teachers as needed.

Family Engagement

Build positive relationships with parents and guardians and communicate regularly about their child's progress and development.

Send update reports to parents throughout the day as required by your director or Lead Teacher.

And....

Complete all required paperwork, training and record keeping on a timely basis and maintains same in an organized, up-to-date manner. This includes, for example, student progress, health and safety files.

Participate in all staff meetings.

Participate in required emergency safety drills.

Participate in all school activities as required by the Director.

Complete 16 hours of professional development annually on topics relevant to job responsibilities such as Child Development and Learning, Health, Safety and Nutrition, Family and Community Collaboration, Teaching and Learning, Observation, Documentation and Assessment, and Interactions and Guidance.

Within 90 days of hiring complete the following training on MIRegistry: a) Administration of Medicine, b) Prevention of and response to emergencies due to food and allergic reactions, c) Building and physical premises safety, d) Emergency preparedness and response planning, e) Handling and storage of hazardous materials and appropriate disposal of bio-contaminants, f) Child Development.

Within 6 months of hire, complete 45 hours of MiRegistry approved infant and toddler development and care practices.
