What are the responsibilities and job description for the Transportation Driver (Part Time) position at Low Country Health Care System?
Hours: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (all day)- 8am-5pm
Qualifications: Must be a high school graduate and possess a valid South Carolina Driver’s License. Must have at least (5) years of driving experience and no moving violations within the (3) years of previous employment.
Must be able to take and pass CPR, First Aid, Defensive Driving, Passenger Assistance Techniques and other required certifications course.
Job duties include but are not limited to:
- Greet all patients with a smile and interact with them in a courteous and friendly manner
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all protected health information
- Use the most practical routes to transport patients to and from their appointments (the radio must not be on while transporting patients)
- Adhere to state traffic laws including the Adult Safety Belt and Child Restraint laws
- Must be accessible during work hours and check voice messages throughout the day
- Ensure patients are at their appointments 15-30 minutes before their appointment time
- Call patients to confirm they have transportation the day before their appointment
- Document the name, pay source, travel time, and odometer reading after transporting each patient
- Complete the Transportation Van Daily Checklist each morning
- Report any incidents that happen on the company’s vehicles using the Incident Report Form
- Maintain order on the company’s vehicle and report any offensive or discourteous behavior to you supervisor
- Complete a daily maintenance check and report any needed repairs or changes in vehicle performance to your supervisor
- Take the company’s vehicles in for service and keep the vehicles clean
- Make sure the company’s vehicles are stocked with Kleenex, paper towels, disinfectant wipes and hand sanitizer at all times
- Safeguard the company’s property including but not limited to vehicles, cellular phones, mobile radios, and supplies on the vehicle
- Dump trash on the vehicle daily
- Distribute clothing, fliers, and other items in the community regarding upcoming events, health information, and the services offered at our offices
- Present at positive public image while representing Low Country Health Care System, Inc.
- Accurately maintain records, reports, and forms associated with their job duties
- Transport labs to the Health Department and the Hospital
- Run errands for LCHCS as needed
- Keep up with updates and changes pertaining to the transportation department
- Attend training, workers, and continuing education as instructed by your supervisor
- Perform any other duties as assigned by your supervisor

Applicants with “previous like skills” may not be given the same weight and consideration as “previous specific same skills”: i.e., For a Medical Receptionist position, “Previous clerical skills” may not be preferred over “Previous Medical Clerical Skills”
