Resident Facilitator

LOCATION : Bryant House- 4008 NE 57th Street, Seattle, WA 98105

REPORTS TO : Supportive Services Manager

HOURS : 10 hours per week

PAY RANGE : $20.90-25.10 per hour 1-Bedroom Unit & Utilities for $50.00 a month

BENEFITS : Medical, dental, vision, retirement, life insurance, long term disability insurance and sick leave are available to employees. Employees accrue 116 hours of vacation during the first year and receive 11 paid holidays. (Prorated for part-time employees).

Position type : This is a non-exempt position. This is a unionized position, represented by Local 8 of the Office of Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU).

This position requires the employee to live on site and be on-call for emergencies and inspections. Property provides special-needs housing for recovering young adult (age 18 – 24) substance abuse individuals in a clean and sober housing environment. . The Resident Facilitator is responsible for providing a safe and stable living environment. This position also provides onsite support to residents. Residents participate in a Community Transitional Housing program. Position will participate in a team with LIHI staff along with case managers. The Supportive Services Manager will provide the overall supervision of the House Resident Facilitator and focus on the overall property management.

Responsibilities :

Case Management and Facilitation

  • Build effective relationships with residents including an environment of trust.
  • Conduct resident assessments to identify current level of functioning and social services needs.
  • Provide case management for residents regarding self-identified, possible evictions, life skills for young adults and social service referral information.
  • Complete HMIS data for every resident.
  • Maintain, update and expand knowledge base of referral resources and related information.
  • Document rule violations and inform Support Services Manager.
  • If a resident shows evidence of alcohol or drug use or if alcohol / drugs or drug paraphernalia are discovered : work with Supportive Services Manager to refer resident to Detox.
  • Report regularly to Supportive Services Manager regarding programmatic issues and other concerns.

Property Management and Maintenance

  • Situate new residents and review expectations including house chore responsibilities and house rules and regulations.
  • Review lease documents for completeness and accuracy. Approve resident lease documents.
  • Assign household chores to each resident on rotating basis and monitors performance.
  • Collect monthly rents timely and deliver to Supportive Services Manager.
  • Type, file, photocopy, prepare spreadsheets, process transmittals / mailings and other office duties as needed.
  • Assist with maintaining residential files.
  • Assist with conducting outreach for vacancies.
  • Manage and respond to overall safety and sanitation of the house; respond to house and resident emergencies and call Supportive Services Manager when needed.
  • Perform janitorial and light maintenance duties as needed.
  • Forward maintenance request forms to LIHI’s maintenance department; track maintenance work and needs.
  • Conduct inspections of house and grounds on a regular basis and report any property damage or electrical / plumbing / mechanical problems to the Supportive Services Manager.
  • Arrange service from vendors and utility companies as needed.
  • Hold monthly group House Meetings.
  • Assist with unit turns, as needed.
  • Type, file, photocopy, process transmittals / mailings and other office duties as needed.
  • Attend to overall safety and sanitation of the house; responds to house and resident emergencies and calls Area Manager when needed.
  • Other tasks as assigned in order to provide a clean, safe and stable living environment.
  • Qualifications :

  • At least two years experience working with recovering substance abuse individuals in clean and sober housing is preferred.
  • Prior social services experience working with young adults is preferred.
  • Knowledge of chemical dependency, treatment and the recovery process; prefer a recovering chemically dependent individual with at least two years of sobriety.
  • Knowledge of local resources related to homeless, low-income, minority, mental health disabilities and substance abuse populations.
  • Excellent problem solving and conflict resolution skills including the ability to remain calm and defuse potentially disruptive situations; establish and maintain appropriate boundaries in relationships with residents, emotional maturity and good “common sense” judgment.
  • Experience in clerical / administrative work, social services. Proven ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with residents and other social service providers.
  • Be able to lift 25 pounds
  • Must pass Washington State Patrol criminal background check
  • Must pass drug screening test.
