Job Description :
The PET / CT Scan Technologist performs diagnostic PET / CT and CT Imaging procedures as directed by physician, to provide patient care essential to the performance of these procedures by performing the duties outlined below.
Responsibilities
- All Nuclear Medicine procedures are provided and performed in accordance with the requirements of the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC).
- All individuals will properly prepare, administer, and measure radioactive isotopes in therapeutic and diagnostic radiotracer studies utilizing a variety of equipment.
- Explains procedures to patient to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation.
- Moves equipment into specified position and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors such as time and distance.
- Maintain and calibrate radioisotope and laboratory equipment in accordance with required calibration schedule.
- All Radioactive materials received will be wiped, surveyed, logged, and properly disposed of in accordance with DHEC standard.
- Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staff.
- Responsible for quality control and reports for Diagnostic Imaging Department.
- Maintains radiation monitors and proper registration of radiology equipment.
- Complies with local, state and federal regulations pertaining to radiology.
- Performs routine maintenance and troubleshooting of all equipment.
- Orders and stocks all radiology supplies.
