We are seeking seasonal, experienced and personable Boat Captains to join our team at Lowcountry Watersports & Pirates of Hilton Head, leading watersports companies on Hilton Head Island. This role requires a skilled captain with a strong emphasis on safety, customer service, and professionalism. As a Boat Captain, you will be responsible for operating boats for watersports activities, ensuring the safety of passengers, and creating a fun and memorable experience for our guests.
Key Responsibilities:
Boat Operations & Navigation:
- Safely operate company boats for watersports activities, including dolphin tours, pirate ship tours, private events, or other recreational experiences.
- Maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal boating regulations.
- Perform daily pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure the vessel is in optimal working condition.
- Execute emergency procedures when necessary to ensure passenger safety.
Safety & Compliance:
- Monitor weather conditions and adjust plans to ensure passenger safety.
- Ensure all safety equipment, including life jackets, first aid kits, and emergency supplies, are on board and in good working order.
- Provide detailed safety briefings to guests before every trip, including instructions on proper equipment use and emergency procedures.
- Enforce all safety guidelines and company policies during trips.
Customer Interaction:
- Greet passengers with enthusiasm and provide excellent customer service throughout their experience.
- Share local knowledge about Hilton Head Island, its wildlife, and the surrounding waters to enhance the guest experience.
- Address guest questions, concerns, or feedback promptly and professionally.
Maintenance & Recordkeeping:
- Assist in routine maintenance of the boats and report any mechanical or operational issues.
- Maintain accurate records of trips, passenger counts, and any incidents that may occur.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Valid U.S. Coast Guard Captain’s License (OUPV or higher).
- CPR and First Aid certification (required).
- TWIC card (required).
- At least 1 year of experience operating commercial or recreational vessels.
- Strong knowledge of Hilton Head Island waterways and local boating regulations.
- Ability to lift and move heavy equipment (e.g., anchors, watersports gear) as needed.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in the watersports, hospitality, or tourism industry.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with diverse groups of people.
- A passion for boating, marine life, and creating exceptional guest experiences.

- Must be comfortable working in various weather conditions, including heat and humidity.
