Your Day at Lowe’s
As Maintenance Supervisor, you play a critical role in building a culture of reliability through your maintenance team and ensuring compliance with all safety protocols across the facility. You'll analyze equipment performance data, evaluate repair priorities, and coordinate preventive maintenance schedules to minimize operational disruptions. Your day is dynamic and centered on optimizing equipment uptime through effective resource allocation and real-time decision making to improve maintenance efficiency.
You'll collaborate functionally with Operations Managers, the Maintenance Manager, and contractors to ensure continuous equipment functionality, consistent maintenance practices between shifts, and achievement of key performance indicators. You'll identify equipment vulnerabilities, implement process improvements, and coach your team of mechanics to drive technical excellence and cost-effective maintenance practices throughout the distribution center.
Key Responsibilities
- Achieves or exceeds key performance indicators, safety goals, and budget targets while ensuring all work is performed safely
- Responds to equipment breakdowns and completes 100% of scheduled Preventative Maintenance (PMs) to minimize impact on distribution center performance
- Prioritizes maintenance work according to business needs (sorter PMs/repairs, yard truck PMs/repairs, and high-priority projects)
- Manages staffing by monitoring needs, assigning mechanics to jobs based on skills/resources, and supervising their work
- Develops team members through cross-training in multiple technical areas (electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, automotive, welding) and creating growth opportunities
- Provides clear leadership by communicating expectations, delivering constructive feedback, and holding associates accountable to performance standards
- Assists associates with HR-related matters including attendance, pay, benefits, job changes, accommodations, and conflict resolution
- Collaborates with Maintenance Manager and contractors to coordinate construction and repair projects according to regulations
- Maintains documentation through the 7I system and conducts shift briefings including safety topics and turnover documentation
- Participates in the hiring process and ensures associates receive proper technical and systems training, including preparation of senior mechanics for supervisory roles
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related field OR 4 years of experience in distribution center/warehouse operations or related area
- Experience with repairing/maintaining one or more of the following types of systems or equipment: conveyors, electro-pneumatic PLC controlled systems with photo eye detectors, electrical systems (440V or less), hydraulic and pneumatic systems, forklifts/reach trucks/floor sweepers/yard trucks, automatic systems, HVAC, basic plumbing systems, fabrication/welding
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, electrical schematics, and various technical drawings
- Experience using troubleshooting processes to resolve problems
- If required by applicable law, certifications for performing supervisory electrical work in an industrial facility
- Must be able to work in a distribution/warehouse environment with the physical and environmental aspects typically associated with such environment.
- Must be able to use tools and complete maintenance related tasks that require fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
- Must be able to work safely with corrosive materials and at heights of 20 feet.
- Minimally must be able to lift 25 pounds; ability to lift up to 70 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using power equipment (e.g., forklift, reach truck, yard truck)
- Experience troubleshooting and performing simple fixes to PLC programming
- Leadership experience with direct report responsibility
- Experience mentoring and coaching others
- Experience monitoring the work of others to ensure quality
- Experience managing budgets or contributing to budget planning
- Experience working with and communicating to leadership all levels of the organization
- Bi-lingual skills, if applicable to the facility
Schedule Requirements
· Required to work a set schedule that meets the needs of the facility.
· May be asked to work mornings, afternoons, nights, and/or weekends based on the needs of the facility.
Working Conditions
· Lifting and moving merchandise methods will vary depending on role of associate, weight of merchandise, and/or volume of product; associates must follow store lifting guidelines.
· A single lift by one associate should not exceed 75 pounds (for Store associates) or 70 pounds (for DC associates) with or without an accommodation.
· Team lifts should be utilized minimally starting at 75 pounds (for Store associates) or 70 pounds (for DC associates), or when an individual feels a lift is beyond their personal limitations.
· Powered equipment should be used when needed depending on load and volume. (Associate must have proper training to utilize powered equipment or ask a trained coworker for assistance).
