Summary:
The Maintenance Technician II is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of the Lowell Community Health Center’s buildings and grounds. The Maintenance Technician II works with a minimum of supervision to ensure assigned areas are maintained in sanitary, orderly and safe conditions by performing various tasks using the necessary equipment and supplies.
Responsibilities:
- Provide excellent customer service to all patients and staff.
- Deliver mail, packages and equipment to departments.
- Maintenance of building to include, but not limited to – bulb change out, painting, carpentry, locksmith work, making keys, plumbing, etc.
- Operation of power tools and power equipment.
- Responsible for building rounds while audits of fire extinguishers, elevators, emergency eye wash stations are completed.
- Participates in Emergency Management drills, responds to alarms and assists Security & Public Safety.
- Knowledge of building’s ABS (Automated Building System) and how to troubleshoot.
- Oil, lubricate and grease pumps, motors and equipment.
- Responsible for purchasing equipment, ordering supplies and managing inventory.
- Provides logistical support for all LCHC events and functions.
- Snow removal, salting sidewalks.
- On call duties as assigned.
- Painting, Carpet placement/removal and door replacements experience required
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is desired.
- Demonstrated experience in Maintenance field, including general maintenance and repair procedures is preferred.
- Ability to read and effectively communicate in English.
- Extensive recordkeeping is required.
- Effective computer skills are needed.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent standing and walking for up to 80% of the work day or shift.
- Regular lifting, pushing or pulling required up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds.
- Able to freely reach above head, kneel, stoop, and/or crouch.
- Able to climb ladders.
- Able to work alone or as a crew member both inside and outside; may be exposed to extreme temperatures.
Work Environment:
Frequent contact with patients, families, visitors, nurses and other department staff. Occasional requests to change work areas to cover another priority area to meet patient needs. Occasional stress and pressure caused by multiple simultaneous demands. May be exposed to various body fluids and/or infectious diseases. Universal precautions and techniques are included in orientation and the availability of protective wear is supported and encouraged when the employee is at risk for exposure.
