Adult Education, part-time ESOL instructor
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The duties include, but are not limited to the following
Responsibilities:
- Teach ESOL class, in person mornings at satellite location, or an evening remote or in-person class
- Plan lessons utilizing curriculum according to MA DESE ELPS
- Assess student progress, advise and support students as they pursue development of their English language skills
- Assist students with goal setting
- Participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings and Professional Development
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, goals, and student information
- Collaborate with partner programs to promote digital literacy in all aspects of teaching
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required
- At least 3 years of successful teaching experience in any discipline
- Experience teaching with refugee and immigrant populations a plus
- Experience working with linguistically and culturally diverse adult population
- An understanding of performance standards and effective teaching practices which support the MA English Language Proficiency Standards (MA ELPS)
- Understanding of adult second language acquisition and literacy processes
- Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal and technology skills
- Proficiency in using technology tools for teaching, including Outlook and Google Suite
Reports to: Director of Student Resources
Effective Date of Employment: January 2025
Terms of Employment: Hours not to exceed 18 per week, no benefits
Compensation: $45 per hour
