What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Recreation Program Assistant position at Lowell School District 71?
Lowell School District seeks outstanding candidates for the position of a temporary, part-time Summer Recreation and Fitness Assistant to begin July 7, 2025, and continue for six (6) weeks during the summer break.
Position: Assistants are assigned by administration and the program coordinator to assist in summer recreational activities and academic enrichment activities.
Work schedule is will be between 4 and 5 hours per day, ranging in time from 9:00 am-12:30 pm, Monday-Friday. Some of the work time will involve monitoring students using the food service program.
Salary schedule and benefits are determined by current classified contract.
Assistant is Responsible to: The Program Coordinator, Principal, Superintendent, Food Service Director.
SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to perform and lead fitness activities for grades 3-6 and maintain consistent attendance
Must have appropriate interpersonal skills with children and adults
Must interface with students, the public and staff in a professional, positive and service oriented manner
Ability to understand and execute verbal and written instructions, policies and procedures
Must be able to pass a criminal history background check and submit fingerprints
Working Conditions:
- Ability to see for purposes of reading laws and codes, rules and policies, and other printed material and observing students
- Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels
- Ability to communicate so others will be able to clearly understand normal conversation
- Ability to bend and twist, stoop, kneel, run and crawl
- Ability to reach in all direction
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
- Ability to carry up to 20 pounds
- Moderate to high stress level activity
Physical Abilities:
- Visual acuity to monitor students and student activities
- Hearing and speaking to exchange information and monitor student behavior and communicate so others will be able to clearly understand normal conversation
- Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate equipment
- Physical agility to lift and carry light objects; bending at the waist, kneeling, crouching and reaching in all directions to assist students
- Sitting or standing for extended periods of time
- Mental acuity to perform the essential functions of this position in an efficient fashion
