LCRA is looking for a Substation Journeyman to join our team! Your workplace will be in the scenic Texas outdoors and you will help maintain the critical infrastructure for Central Texas. As a member of our maintenance team, you will travel across Central Texas to various work sites (with travel accommodations provided), using your knowledge and experience in the electrical field, but still building higher-level knowledge and skills. You will be trusted to:
- Install, maintain, remove, inspect, test, and repair electric motors, generators, electrical circuit breakers, condensers, transformers, switches, communication systems, and electrical and electronic control equipment and wiring.
- Locate and repair failures in electrical and electronic circuits and equipment. Install test apparatus on all electrical equipment and analyze/implement solutions to electrical and electronic control system problems.
- Perform maintenance, repair and operational/diagnostic tests as required on all power apparatus in substations, power plants, or other installations. Record test results and develop/prepare summary of test results in reports.
- Read/interpret blueprints and drawings, consult manuals, parts lists, etc, to assist in performing work. Keep drawings and schematics up to date and accurate.
You qualify with:
- Four or more years of experience in maintenance and/or construction of electrical power generation, transmission, distribution, substation and control equipment, and/or other types of electrical equipment, including experience reading blueprints.
- A degree(s) in electrical power theory, electronics, instrumentation, controls, industrial maintenance or relevant field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.
- Driver's license

- Successful completion through Level IV of the Substation Electrician Program.
- CDL. Must obtain Class A Texas commercial driver’s license within one year (365 days) of hire as a condition of employment.
