At a Glance! The Department of Languages & Literature seeks a qualified candidate for a full-time, tenure-track Spanish instructor. Who we are: Lower Columbia College exists on Cowlitz land, in the heart of Longview, Washington. Honoring those who came before us and served as traditional stewards of the land is vital to acknowledging the long-standing history of Southwest Washington. This area is home to the Cowlitz Indian Tribe and has been for thousands of years. The land enabled the Cowlitz People to flourish with its rich resources. The Language and Literature department at Lower Columbia College is a welcoming environment that fosters innovation and collaboration. The Faculty position is 173 contract days (fall, winter, spring) with an anticipated start of September 2025. The Spanish Faculty reports to the Dean of Instruction. Courses are delivered through multiple modalities including online, hybrid, and in-person. The salary range is $75,160 to $97,409 based on education and experience. Please note the salary amount within this posting is reflective of the 2024-25 salary amounts and does not include any legislatively funded COLA for the 2025-26 year. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Provide quality instruction that emphasizes an active, student-centered working environment Teach 15 credits (3 courses) of Spanish per quarter at the first- and second-year levels (often in combined sections) on a variety of schedules and modalitiesEffectively prepare and present course content to a diverse student population with various learning styles and abilities Collaborate with the department and other members of the campus community to foster student successIncorporate current instructional technology in course delivery Seek professional development opportunities to maintain knowledge and skills current in discipline and area of assignmentHold at least five weekly office hours and generally assist students in person one-on-one and/or both through electronic media and in-personContribute to curriculum and program development, program and college assessment, and accreditation activities that promote effective learning.
