OVERVEIW: Our mission at Klallam Counseling Services is to provide behavioral health treatment services to native and non-native individuals and their family members by providing them with the structure to make the lifestyle choices and changes that will give them a sense of freedom and an overall improved quality of life.

This is an exciting opportunity to experience providing high quality behavioral health treatment services to both youth and adult clients. The Lead Clinical Supervisor will be responsible for supervision of an integrated outpatient Mental Health Services program, ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and Indian Health Services requirements.

The ideal candidate must be a team player open working in a collaborative environment and committed to the vision, values and mission of the Lower Elwha Health Department and Klallam Counseling Services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION OF JOB:


  • Responsible for implementation and supervision of a culturally sensitive, quality mental health program within the framework of the mental health recovery model.
  • Develop and support a multi-disciplinary clinical team to provide individual and family counseling, group facilitation, crisis response, and related mental health services to individuals enrolled in programs at Lower Elwha Health Department and/or its affiliates.
  • Participate in an integrated health services system with Lower Elwha Health Department programs, including medical, dental, substance use disorder, billing, and community health.
  • Provide clinical oversight and direction to mental health therapists, interns, peer counselors, and program assistants.
  • Provide direct clinical services to eligible clients, integrating evidence-based models within a culturally relevant framework.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal, State, Tribal, and ethical practice guidelines in the areas of patient care, clinical documentation, and work flow development.
  • Establish and maintain program policies and procedures that reflect current administrative and clinical health care trends.
  • Recruit, train, evaluate, and provide leadership for a clinical services team.
  • Promote and ensure program productivity standards.
  • Facilitate and participate in team meetings, interdisciplinary clinical consultations, all-staff meetings, supervisory consultation, and workforce development training programs.
  • Establish working relationships with complementary service system providers.
  • Maintains professional boundaries with clients and staff, while integrating into the community in a collaborative, trustworthy manner.
  • Act as liaison with State and local governments and related work groups regarding mental health systems, policy changes and reimbursements.
  • Work on establishing and maintaining relationships with other LEKT government departments.
  • Attend LEKT community events and represent the behavioral health department.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIRED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: (Knowledge)

  • Minimum of a Masters degree in psychology, clinical social work, or other behavioral health field.
  • Current (or eligibility for) Washington State mental health counseling credential or professional license.
  • Current (or eligibility for) Washington State Approved Clinical Supervisor designation.
  • Minimum of five years of experience providing clinical treatment services to individuals and their families.
  • Experience working with multi-ethnic and multi-age populations of all socio-economic strata in outreach, crisis intervention, and psychotherapy services.
  • Basic knowledge and willingness to learn more about concepts of indigenous culture, Native American tribal status, and historical trauma.

OTHER PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL QUALITIES AND SKILLS: (Abilities)

  • Ability to maintain confidences and handle highly confidential materials with absolute adherence to privacy laws.
  • Ability to work independently, balancing the responsibility of duty to clients, staff, and the organization.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and prioritize responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability; must possess tact, integrity, and the ability to make sound decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with clients, other service systems and community members.
  • Ability to manage dual relationships.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of psychotropic medications, third party payer systems, Medicaid documentation guidelines, and current best practice treatment models.
  • Basic computer proficiency.

DESIRED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Mental Health Professional designation, or Child Mental Health Specialist designation, or Ethnic Minority Mental Health Specialist designation.
  • A working knowledge of mental health treatment facilities and their treatment modalities in Clallam County and throughout Washington State.
  • At least one year program administration experience, including budgets, personnel management, and third party payers.

OTHER CONSIDERATIONS:

  • Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen.
  • Indian preference in hiring, in accordance with P.L. 93-638. Klallam language preference in hiring, in accordance with LEKT Employee Handbook policy.
  • Must be able to comply with and enforce the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe personnel policy and procedures.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Physical Requirements: Stamina to work 40 hours per week primarily in a clinic setting; ability to be available occasionally after hours and on weekends; ability to reach out and squat for filing purposes; availability for travel as needed.
