What are the responsibilities and job description for the 7D School Bus Drivers position at Lower Pioneer Valley Educational Collaborative?
a 7D Bus driver's primary responsibility is to ensure the safe, orderly and professional transportation of students on an assigned bus route. 7D drivers have assistance from bus monitors to ensure the safe transport of our students to school and other designated locations. We are willing to train and help you to obtain your school bus endorsement. No CDL is required.
Regular and reliable attendance.
•Maintain thorough working knowledge of all laws, procedures and regulations governing school bus drivers and student
transportation.
•Maintain safety precautions when students are boarding and departing the bus.
•Instruct children in safety precautions and practices.
•Signal children when to cross street and assure that children are safely across upon departure from bus.
•Follow assigned route and adhere to set schedules.
•Pick up and discharge students only at authorized stops. Transport only authorized students.
•Display the highest ethical and professional behavior in working with students, parents, school personnel, co-workers, and
members of the community.
•Serve as a role model for students and staff in demonstrating positive attitudes, appropriate attire and grooming, and an
effective work ethic.
•Perform evacuation drills as required.
•Notify the Driver Supervisor of any mechanical failure or schedule problems.
•Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections. Submit work orders as necessary. Follow up with Driver Supervisor of any
equipment failures.
•Observe all mandatory safety regulations for school vehicles.
•Drive LPVEC vehicles safely while transporting students from home to school; transport students and adult chaperones on
school activities during and outside of school hours.
•Monitor appropriate behavior of students.
•Maintain discipline and control of students on buses. Report disruptions to the Driver Supervisor.
•Enforce regulations against smoking or other contraband in the vehicle.
•Responsible for maintaining bus in good repair. Keep bus cleaned and replenish fuel as needed.
•Properly operate all assigned communications equipment.
•Report all accidents, vehicle damage and student injuries as they occur.
•Complete all required reports and documentation in a timely basis.
•Maintain log on fuel usage and mileage.
•Participate in required training programs.
•Interact thoughtfully and courteously with students, staff and parents and resolve conflict in a professional manner.
