MEDICAL ASSISTANT
JOB SUMMARY:
This position works under the direction of a qualified medical provider in an urgent care setting. This position participates in direct and indirect patient care including the evaluation and treatment of patients within the objectives and standards of the practice. We are looking to add caring, professional, enthusiastic individuals to our team!
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Document in patient’s chart any testing and medical procedures performed
· Document medications administered and DME applied in patient’s chart
· Clean exam rooms to prepare for the next patient per company protocol
· Check equipment regularly for signs of wear and/or malfunction; report any such faults to a supervisor immediately
· Administer injections to patients as directed by the provider
· Perform phlebotomy
· Apply DME effectively ensuring proper sizing and function
· Assist provider with medical procedure (I&D, Joint injections, Laceration repair, etc)
· Collect specimens from patient and conduct point of care lab testing (urinalysis, glucometer, strep, flu, etc)
· Create excuse notes at the request of the provider and/or patient with provider guidance
· Schedule patients for outside imaging studies, lab work, and specialist appointments
· Assist in contacting patients with test results within 24 hours of provider’s review
· Triage patients and document medical history and vitals accurately in patient’s chart
· Assist in answering phones and directing calls/answering questions as needed
· Participate in morning, evening, and weekly chores
· Adhere to policies and procedures in regard to wearing PPE while performing duties
· Maintain current knowledge and skills in clinical practice and uphold professional certifications
· Read and understand all current company policies and procedure outlined in the employee handbook and it’s extensions
QUALIFICATIONS:
Skills and Abilities
· Demonstrates critical thinking skills
· Proven ability to maintain a professional and pleasant demeanor
· Understanding of basic medical and pharmaceutical terminology
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills that reflect an ability to interact appropriately with a diverse patient population
· Working knowledge of HIPAA and how to appropriately handle PHI
· Ability to work effectively as part of a team
· Strong Organization and time management skills
Education and Experience
· High school graduate or GED equivalent
Eligibility Requirements:
· Must be at least 18 years of age
· Must be willing to submit to drug and alcohol screening and background check; any offer of employment is conditional upon the successful completion of said screenings
· Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States
Physical Demands, work conditions, and environment:
Employees must have:
· Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis
· Ability to speak, hear, and have clear vision
· Ability to assist in moving patients of all sizes
· Ability to walk and/or stand for up to 12 hours a day
· Ability to use their hands without limitation
Employees can expect to work in a typical medical office environment in which they can potentially be exposed to infectious diseases.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
