Job Summary
 

The Industrial Engineer, Supply Chain is primarily responsible for partnering across SC Industrial Engineering, Operations, and other cross functional teams to focus on optimizing DC performance including productivity, accuracy, capacity, and efficiency. This role plays an integral part in identifying, evaluating, and implementing improvements and using creative problem-solving techniques to find ways to prevent waste and inefficiency in DC operations. Broader responsibilities include project management, business analysis, facility layout, product flow, and change management.  It will be critical for this Industrial Engineer to serve as a Leader for our organization: building trust within the Engineering Team, amongst cross functional project teams, and with project stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage, and execute complex improvement projects to drive operational excellence that impacts the entire SC Distribution Network. This includes all aspects of the project management life cycle with support from engineering leadership as needed for larger projects.
  • Manages designated work streams to meet customer and business needs by translating business plans into tactical action items; communicating goals and objectives; overseeing individual work assignments; aligning cross-functional team efforts; develop financial cost benefit analysis as part of project justification; track and report on post-project successes and impacts to the business to measure progress in achieving results and creating accountability; identifying and addressing process improvement opportunities; owning responsibility for decision making.
  • Conducts data collection and analysis for various process improvement efforts to better understand business trends and make informed recommendations for improvement.
  • Engage with the DC management team to keep apprised of issues and opportunities, lending the engineering perspective to guide and influence the Distribution Center towards the most ideal and strategic course of action.
  • Supports facility layout design and ergonomic studies to increase productivity while maintaining safety.
  • Supports larger scale projects and process improvements including Six Sigma Lean, Kaizen events, and rapid improvement events.
  • Supports the development and execution of Labor Management Standards, as needed.
  • Other tasks as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering or related field (or equivalent work experience in industrial engineering field)
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Excel, Power Point, and Access; experience in time and motion studies, working with engineered labor standards development or implementation
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Experience working in a Distribution Center environment and working with a warehouse management system preferred
