What you?ll be doing as a Garden Center Team Member:
- Provide professional and courteous assistance to customers and vendors.
- Answer customer inquiries over the phone in a friendly, positive manner.
- Process customer payments accurately and efficiently using iPad/Shopify.
- Maintain the appearance and cleanliness of the department (sweeping, trash removal, etc.).
- Restock and organize plants, products, and supplies to ensure efficient inventory management.
- Demonstrate plant knowledge and assist customers with plant selection and care.
- Assist with plant health by identifying and addressing diseases, pests, and general upkeep.
- Water plants regularly (including hand watering shrubs, perennials, trees) to ensure proper growth.
- Apply treatments such as Copper Fungicide and Insecticide to maintain plant health.
- Brew and apply Geo Tea to shrubs, perennials, and trees.
- Occasionally, visit job sites to water plants as needed.
- Maintain and manage inventory of shrubs, perennials, and trees.
- Prune shrubs, perennials, and trees to promote healthy growth.
- Repot plants that have outgrown their current pots.
- Plant annuals in pots for clients upon request.
- Unload and process shipments of plants, ensuring proper organization by type.
- Pickup plants from local vendors for customer orders.
- Pull and organize upcoming customer orders accurately.
- Dispose of dead or diseased plants and manage plant inventory.
- Keep the work environment clean and organized, ensuring a positive shopping experience for customers.
What you?ll bring to the table as a Garden Center Team Member:
- Strong ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of floral plant and flower care.
- Excellent communication skills with a positive, ?can-do? attitude.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to sort merchandise by type, color, and price.
- Self-motivated and capable of executing tasks independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in MS Office and strong overall computer skills.
Physical Requirements and Abilities:
- Ability to bend, squat, crouch, kneel, sit, and stand for extended periods.
- Ability to raise arms overhead as needed.
- Regular walking, including climbing stairs and occasional use of a ladder.
- Capable of lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds to position plants, merchandise, and create or maintain displays.
- Comfortable working in outdoor weather conditions.
- Willingness to learn plant knowledge from coworkers and management.
- Ability to load mulch into trailers and other equipment using a Hitachi.
- Capable of moving trees using a Hitachi.
