We are seeking a passionate and dedicated early childhood assistant teacher to join our team. This specific role will be with toddler aged children but should also be willing to work with infants and preschoolers as needed. You will be responsible for creating a nurturing and stimulating environment that fosters the social, emotional, and cognitive development of young children. You will implement age-appropriate lesson plans that promote learning through play, exploration, and hands-on activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of childhood development and a commitment to child welfare.
Responsibilities:
Provides early education and care of young children in a State of Michigan licensed and a high quality child care center.
- Educate children in various subjects including math, literacy, and social skills through engaging lesson plans.
- Develop and implement lesson plans that cater to the diverse needs of children in the classroom.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively, ensuring a positive learning environment for all students.
- Provide care and support for children’s daily activities, including meals, diapering, naps, and playtime.
- Performs cleaning duties and organizes daily routine materials and supplies.
- Monitor and assess children's progress in their development and learning milestones.
- Collaborate with staff, parents and guardians to discuss children's progress and address any concerns regarding their welfare.
- Create an inclusive environment that encourages early intervention for children who may need additional support.
- Maintain a safe and clean classroom environment that promotes health and safety standards.
- Must comply with all State of Michigan child care licensing rules, including completing 24 hours of approved training per year.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working with young children in an educational setting is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of childhood development principles and practices.
- Excellent classroom management skills with the ability to engage children effectively.
- Ability to plan lessons that incorporate various teaching methods suitable for different learning styles.
- Familiarity with behavior management techniques to support positive interactions among children.
- A genuine passion for educating young minds and contributing positively to their growth.
- Relevant certifications such as a CDA or degrees in Early Childhood Education or related fields are highly desirable. Willing to obtain a CDA within 12 months of hire.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, sit on the floor and lift of minimum of 40 pounds.
- Must be able to open or close at the center if needed.
- Must submit to a comprehensive background check, including fingerprints.
- Must be First Aid/CPR certified. Must be willing to respond to health care situations and administers first aid and or CPR if necessary.
- Must have a current TB test
