Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our dedicated team of ambassadors. This role is essential in providing high-quality support to individuals with intellectual, developmental, & unique disabilities with varying needs in homes and community based settings. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to promoting the health, safety, and security of Florida's most vulnerable individuals -enhancing the quality of life for our clients through patient care, monitoring, and assistance with daily activities.
Duties
- Provide direct support and assistance to individuals in daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
- Monitor the health and well-being of clients, ensuring their safety and comfort at all times.
- Assist with mobility needs, including lifting and transferring clients as required.
- Engage clients in social and recreational activities to promote mental and emotional well-being.
- Maintain accurate records of client progress and any changes in behavior or health status utilizing electronic visit verification software.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to implement individualized care plans effectively.
- Support clients in achieving their personal goals and fostering independence within a safe environment.
Requirements
- Previous experience 2-3 years working with children, handicap, or elderly
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Ability to pass a FDLE Level 2 Livescan background screening
- Strong skills in patient care, including knowledge of home care practices and hospice care principles.
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to perform patient monitoring tasks effectively while maintaining client dignity and respect.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with clients, families, and team members.
- Physical ability to lift clients safely and assist with mobility as needed.
- A compassionate nature with a strong desire to help others improve their quality of life.
- Certification in CPR/First Aid is a plus but not required at the time of application; training will be provided.
