Job Description: As a Sterile Supply Technician at the Cheyenne VA Medical Center, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety in the preparation and distribution of medical instruments and equipment. Your expertise will help prevent infections and ensure optimal patient care.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and distribute sterile instrument trays and sets to operating rooms, clinics, and other departments
- Inspect and test instruments for damage and functionality
- Operate and maintain sterilizers, including steam, hydrogen peroxide gas plasma, and high-level disinfecting units
- Communicate effectively with clinical staff and other stakeholders to ensure seamless workflow
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or certification in a related field preferred
- At least 2 years of experience in a related field, such as medical supply, surgery, or healthcare
- Thorough knowledge of medical and surgical terminology, infection control, human anatomy, and physiology
