Loyola Blakefield, a Catholic, Jesuit middle and high school with an enrollment of 1000 boys in Towson, Maryland, is currently accepting applications for the position of head varsity basketball coach for the 2025-26 school year. Loyola competes in the Baltimore Catholic League and the MIAA A Conference for basketball at all levels. All candidates should be able to demonstrate not only the ability to lead and direct all aspects of a successful high school basketball program, but also the desire and ability to do so in ways consistent with the Catholic, Jesuit mission of our school.
Candidates for this position will be considered either as a part-time, stipend coach or in conjunction with a full-time staff or faculty position depending on the strengths and interests of the candidates and the needs of the school.
Job Description:
Lead the basketball program. Communicate with all basketball players, parents, and community members on a regular basis about the culture, philosophy, and logistics of all aspects of basketball at Loyola, both in season and out of season.
Design, communicate, and implement a skill development program that is designed to emphasize the necessary skills needed to succeed at each under squad level through the varsity level.
Hire and manage varsity, junior varsity, and middle school coaching staff in partnership with the director of athletics. Work with the Loyola athletics department to schedule off season workouts, tryouts, practices, scrimmages, and games for all levels.
Communicate, advise, and meet with all Loyola basketball players and families that wish to pursue playing basketball at the collegiate level.
Develop and initiate a strategy, in partnership with our admissions office, to connect prospective basketball student-athletes to our school and program.
Qualifications
- 5 years or more of varsity or collegiate basketball coaching experience, head coaching experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of high school basketball rules and regulations
- Ability to communicate and work with students, faculty, staff, alumni, college administration
- Exhibits strong skills in: Communication- verbal, non-verbal and writing skills, computer skills
