JOB SUMMARY:

The Advancement Manager is responsible for helping to lead strategies to prospect, cultivate and secure additional funding and contributions to support the mission of Loyola High School. The Advancement Manager is a key member of the Advancement team and is responsible for helping to build and maintain an ongoing resource pool of new and potential prospects to support the mission. The Advancement Manager will collaborate with various stakeholders to identify, cultivate and solicit individuals and corporations to support fundraising opportunities and work experience partnerships for the young men of Loyola High School. The Advancement Manager will also spearhead strengthening relationships with alumni of Loyola.

The position will work closely with the Director of Advancement and the school President on maintaining a coordinated fundraising program and building a culture that promotes growth and opportunities for engagement for individual, corporate and alumni giving.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

New Donor - Fund Development

  • Partner with the Advancement team to build and maintain a robust pool of prospective new donors who have linkage, interest and capacity to support our mission.
  • Partner with the Donor Relations Coordinator to leverage data analytics and prospect intelligence to identify current supporters of the school that may have additional capacity to increase their support to Loyola.
  • Collaborate with the Advancement and Marketing teams to develop communication and engagement plans to help cultivate and foster closer relationships and connections to both new donors and existing donors who have been identified for enhanced relationship development.
  • Partner with leadership and the events planning team to help ensure optimum fundraising and friend-raising capability of existing and new special events through sponsorships and event attendees.

Loyola Work Experience Program (LWEP)

  • Lead the efforts to identify, cultivate and secure new workplace partners to support Loyola’s Work Experience Program.
  • Work with internal stakeholders, including the LWEP management team as well as Loyola’s Board and Committee members, to help develop and curate a portfolio of potential workplace partner candidates that may have interest and capacity to partner with and support the LWEP program.
  • Primary lead for outreach, solicitation and securing new potential LWEP partners to ensure that the LWEP program has a robust and commensurate portfolio of job placement roles at various partners throughout our surrounding community.

Alumni Relations

  • Act as the lead for planning, coordinating and executing events and engagement opportunities for alumni to strengthen their relationship and connection to Loyola.
  • Partner with the Marketing department to develop compelling collateral and strategies to increase alumni participation in institutional activities.
  • Update and maintain accurate alumni contact information in Loyola’s database to ensure all relevant contact information and records are accurate.
  • Lead outreach and communication efforts to encourage increased participation of alumni in key Loyola events and activities including community gatherings as well as fundraising events. 

 

COLLABORATES WITH: Entire faculty, staff, supporters, LWEP partners and alumni of Loyola.

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • A communications approach that reflects an energetic professional style with a proven track record of cultivating and stewarding relationships with potential new and existing supporters.
  • Excellent personal demeanor with the ability to maintain strong working relationships both internally and externally, including donors, supporters and alumni.
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently with purpose and accuracy.
  • Experience with developing and presenting material in an articulate and compelling manner to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work and thrive within a highly collaborative team culture.
  • Experience and familiarity with donor software.
  • Ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality of constituent information
  • Be familiar and enthusiastic when speaking to the history and the mission of Loyola High School Detroit and the school’s various funding priorities. 


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Any combination of training, education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform this position’s duties such as:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, communications or other applicable fields.
  • Two to Five years of related experience in development and fundraising.
  • Excellent research, organizational and communications skills with demonstrated ability to write clearly and persuasively. 
  • Customer relationship development and stewardship experience through sales or marketing a plus.
