What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Director, Alumni and Family Engagement position at Loyola Marymount University?
Reporting to the Associate Director of Alumni and Family Engagement, the Assistant Director of Alumni and Family Engagement will assist in planning and executing alumni and family programming in collaboration with special events, advancement communications, and school partners, while recruiting and managing volunteers. This position will be responsible for managing the African American Alumni Association ambassador volunteer program and liaise with the Senior Director to assist in managing the African American Alumni Association Board. This position plays a critical role in the effort to deepen alumni and family engagement and broaden the donor pipeline to secure support of LMU’s priorities.

Position Specific Responsibilities :
Design and implement a strategy for the recruitment of leadership volunteers to encourage and sustain alumni interest and participation.
In coordination with the AFE team, lead, manage, and evaluate performance of alumni and family programs and activities.
Recruit and manage alumni volunteer committees to increase engagement and strengthen affinity for the University. In particular, support and develop the engagement strategy for the African American Alumni Association board and ambassador volunteer groups in collaboration with the Senior Director.
Oversee the organization of alumni and volunteer engagement opportunities that include but are not limited to Alumni BBQ, Alumni Mass, and others.
Collaborate with colleagues across campus to execute alumni programs strategically designed to build meaningful connections with alumni and students.
Build continuity and promote alumni and family events and assist in building the donor pipeline through individual engagement and events.
Manage event budgets.
Establish engagement progress metrics by providing assessments and analysis on a regular basis.
Assist with the management of the department’s day-to-day operations. These include, but are not limited to, database updates, contact reports, volunteer tracking and outcomes, engagement platform management, and adherence to daily office procedures and policies.
Represent Alumni and Family Engagement within the LMU community and at professional organizations, associations, while serving on committees as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Requisite Qualifications :
A bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience. Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to keep abreast of regulation / policy changes.
Minimum 1-2 years in advancement / fundraising, preferably in a higher education setting.
Experience in volunteer management and recruitment desired.
Proven ability to multi-task, effectively manage deadlines and overlapping priorities. Exemplary communication skills utilized in communication with internal and external constituents.
Commitment to confidentiality as it relates to sensitive information regarding alumni and donors.
Knowledge of, and competence with, web-based and application-based work.
Possess analytical and problem-solving skills to successfully manage a large volume of diverse tasks / projects.
Demonstrated computer competency and strong working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other relevant systems. Knowledge of the database and CRM systems. Ability and willingness to learn new systems.
