What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Director, Institutional Strategy position at Loyola Marymount University?
Reporting to the Chief of Staff / Vice President of Institutional Strategy this position is responsible for organizing and coordinating the implementation and oversight process for the university’s strategic plan as well as conducting research, data collection, and analysis related to institutional strategy and managing the university’s strategic plan reporting technology system, Cascade.
Position Specific Responsibilities / Accountabilities
Partner with the Chief of Staff / Vice President of Institutional Strategy to implement and oversee the university's strategic plan.
Conduct environmental scans, research and data gathering focused on institutional strategy. Support the assessment, evaluation and reporting of current institutional strategy focused initiatives.
Serve as the Cascade key resource for the university’s strategic plan spotlight initiatives and unit-level strategic plans regarding plan implementation, reporting, and assessment. Connect with appropriate unit-level and spotlight designated Cascade leads; train new Cascade users; conduct continuous assessment and evaluation of Cascade; guide administrative engagement and plan reporting to optimize the effectiveness of strategic plan reporting via Cascade.
Research, data collection, analysis and coordination related to activities and initiatives of the President’s Cabinet, and President’s Office.
Engage and work collaboratively with other University departments and programs to support institutional strategy and strategic plan implementation and reporting.
Perform other duties as assigned by the VP of Institutional Strategy.

Requisite Qualifications
Typically a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. A Master’s degree is preferred. Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to keep abreast of regulation / policy changes.
Minimum 3 years of job related experience that includes managing multiple projects, preferably in higher education.
Experience working in positions that involve collaboration across multiple departments.
Exemplary communication skills (both written and oral) evidenced by background in preparing comprehensive reports and executive summaries incorporating complex, highly technical information.
Highly developed organizational and leadership skills.
Demonstrated analytical skills and experience using data for decision support and decision making; creating complex analytical reports.
Strong ability to conduct thorough and detailed research, utilizing multiple sources to gather relevant data. Must be proficient in analyzing and synthesizing information, and capable of presenting findings in a clear and actionable manner. Experience with various research methodologies and tools.
Ability to handle confidential information with appropriate confidence and sensitivity.
Proven ability to lead and facilitate meetings with leadership and key constituents ensuring clear communication, strategic alignment, and effective decision-making. Must demonstrate strong leadership, professionalism, and confidence in managing high-level discussions, while driving outcomes and fostering collaboration among senior leadership.
Demonstrated computer competency and knowledgeable of business information systems.
