Duties And Responsibilities

Reporting to the Associate Director for the Tutoring Center, the Coordinator leads the management, growth, development, and assessment of the Peer Tutoring program.

Peer Tutoring Coordination

  • Leads, develops, and assesses the Tutoring Center’s Peer Tutoring program.
  • Supervises, mentors, and provides feedback to the Tutoring Center’s Peer Tutors.
  • Collaborates with the Associate Director to coordinate recruitment, interviews, and pre-semester and bi-weekly trainings for the Peer Tutors and Supplemental Instruction (SI) leaders.
  • Coordinates and leads tutoring of special cohort programs in Student-Athlete Academic Services and in Scholars Programs, including Achieving College Excellence, the Leadership Scholars Program, and Academic Enrichment Programs.
  • Assists the Associate Director with ongoing development of the SI program and the STEM Learning Center.
  • Manages the day-to-day operations of the SI and Peer Tutoring programs, such as coordinating the SI schedule and managing Peer Tutoring session attendance through the Center’s online appointment system.
  • Develops weekly Attendance reports on the Center’s Peer Tutor and SI programs.
  • Leads assessment initiatives for the Peer Tutoring program.
  • Collaborates with the Associate Director to CRLA -certify SI and Peer Tutoring Programs.
  • Leads the growth and development of partnerships between the Peer Tutoring program and academic Departments, such as the Language Learning Resource Center and academic Department Club tutoring, as well as develops new partnerships and relationships on campus.
  • Collaborates with the Tutoring Center team to market and reach out to Students, Faculty, Staff, and the community regarding programming expansion, Center relations, and constituent education on all Tutoring Center and STEM Learning Center services.
  • Represents the Tutoring Center during Resource Fairs for on-campus events, including Admission Open Houses.
  • Supervises Tutoring Program Assistants (Graduate Students) who support the administrative work conducted in the Tutoring Center.

Student Transitions & Academic Partnerships And Tutoring Center Responsibilities

  • Facilitates one or more sections of UNIV 112: Strategies for Learning and/or UNIV 101/201: First-Year/Transfer Seminar courses each semester.
  • Collaborates with the Student Transitions & Academic Partnerships Team to create learning outcomes, a comprehensive Assessment Plan, and a Strategic Plan for Tutoring Center programs.
  • Assists in developing and maintaining the Tutoring Center website and social media communications.
  • As part of the Student Transitions & Academic Partnerships Team, participates in events and initiatives, including annual Majors and Minors Fair, New Student Orientations, and Transfer Student Orientations.
  • Participates in Student Academic Services signature programs, events, and activities, including but not limited to: Finals Week proctoring, Undergraduate Admission Open Houses.
  • Performs related duties as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education And/or Work Experience

Master’s Degree in Higher Education or Student Affairs Administration, College Student Development, or a related field; Knowledge of Learning Theory and Academic Support strategies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 1 – 2 years of experience related to learning assistance; Master’s Degree and knowledge of Learning Theory and Academic Support strategies preferred.
  • Solid understanding of Learning Theory and Academic Support strategies and services.
  • Experience developing and implementing Student programming at the post-secondary level.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to competently assess Students’ needs and provide appropriate learning assistance.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with Faculty, Staff, and Students in programming efforts and University committee participation.
  • Dedication to Student success, providing Student-centered services in the Ignatian tradition, and University student retention efforts.

Certificates/Credentials/Licenses

Bachelor’s Degree and 1 – 2 years of experience related to learning assistance; Master’s Degree and knowledge of Learning Theory and Academic Support strategies preferred.

Computer Skills

  • Technical proficiency in use of computers, software applications such as Microsoft 365 suite of applications and web content management systems.
  • Familiarity with student information systems ( SIS ); Oracle PeopleSoft is preferred.
  • Proficiency in data reporting tools, dashboards, and information retrieval systems.
  • Working knowledge of Student Success platforms, appointment scheduling, and Case Management systems; Familiarity EAB Navigate360 and Maxient preferred.
