Loyola University New Orleans College of Nursing and Health is seeking an experienced educator and administrator to lead the School of Nursing (SON) as the Director. The candidate will have had a career of academic excellence and demonstrated leadership skills. This is a 12-month position with the individual reporting to the Dean of the College of Nursing and Health. Loyola’s SON is expanding, and this is a great opportunity to be part of an innovative leadership team to bring to fruition the vision and strategic plan for the School of Nursing. The College of Nursing and Health is unique in that it is comprised of the three educational units of Counseling, Ministry, and Nursing with a tag line of “Health in Mind, Body, and Spirit”. 
 
This candidate will provide leadership for the strategic and operational activities related to nursing education and its enterprises within the University. The Director serves as the official representative of the SON at the university level as well as in external partnerships, to grant agencies, during community engagements, public affairs, to university advancement and philanthropy, and alumni affairs. The Director is appointed by the Dean in association with the recommendation of the search committee and with approval of the Provost.Essential Functions
Oversight of SON faculty, staff, curricula, evaluation and compliance; LSBN and CCNE compliance; Evaluation of sufficiency of faculty and new faculty
hires; Annual faculty and staff performance evaluations; Faculty on-boarding and support; LSBN and CCNE compliance; Data evaluation and reporting;
Management of the SON budget; Coordinates all needs of the SON with the Dean of the College of Nursing and Health; Serves as a member of the College
of Nursing and Health Leadership Team.

Additional Responsibilities:
Supervise faculty and staff development programs, and make unit level recommendations regarding faculty reappointment, tenure, and promotion.
Service to the University community via committee involvement; other duties as assigned by the Dean. Oversees the ongoing program review process existing academic programs offered by the School of Nursing (degrees /majors/concentrations, minors, certificates, international education
experiences, etc.) Provides recommendations for any modification of programs, development of new programs, or deactivation/termination of programs within the unit. Provides supervision of the development of new programs, projects, events and special initiatives within the School of Nursing as well as assist and support interdisciplinary programs within the College and/or University. Oversees the scheduling of courses (classroom, labs, clinical, etc). Participates in writing of grants as required/requested.
  • Current license or privilege to practice as a Registered Nurse in Louisiana.
  • Earned graduate degree in nursing and an earned doctoral degree in nursing or a relevant field; doctoral degree in nursing preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in the areas of nursing education and clinical practice; Experience in baccalaureate and graduate nursing education preferred.
  • Demonstrated record of excellence in both academic leadership positions and teaching. Online teaching experience including use of learning technologies and program administrative experience is preferred.
  • Excellence in pedagogical inquiry and educational innovation demonstrated through a strong teaching and leadership curriculum vitae, including a statement of teaching and leadership philosophy, and a record of previous teaching accomplishments and innovations.
  • Exceptional leadership skills, including an ability to work effectively within a team that is comprised of multiple stakeholders such as faculty, senior administration, staff and students.
  • Demonstrated clinical expertise in one or more specialty areas of nursing.
  • Commitment to excellence in teaching and learning consistent with the program mission, vision, values, and outcomes.
  • Affirmation of the mission of Loyola University New Orleans, a nationally recognized Jesuit and Catholic institution of the liberal arts and sciences.
  • Demonstrated expertise in various Learning Management Systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
