Loyola University School of Nursing seeks a full-time faculty member for the Nurse-Midwifery Program. The position(s) includes responsibility for classroom, skills lab, and clinical instruction. The program is hybrid – didactic content is delivered synchronously and virtually. There are on-campus intensives at which faculty are required.
Qualified applicants will have a doctorate in nursing (or currently in coursework to complete a doctorate), an active unrestricted Louisiana RN and APRN license, and a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Certified Nurse-Midwife. Previous teaching experience is preferred but not required.Essential Functions

Qualified applicants will have a doctorate in nursing (or currently in coursework to complete a doctorate), an active unrestricted Louisiana RN and APRN license, and a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Certified Nurse-Midwife. Previous teaching experience is preferred but not required.Essential Functions
- Collaborates with the Nurse-Midwifery Program Director and other faculty in carrying out activities designed to enhance the quality of the education and instruction of students.
- Carries out duties and responsibilities that are designed to contribute to achievement of the established outcomes for the Nurse-Midwifery program, including the planning, implementation, and evaluation of courses and programming.
- Contributes to the development of new courses and the updating of existing courses and outlines according to programmatic requirements and with consideration of expected student learning outcomes
- Fulfills contractional obligations for full instructional load, during fall, spring, and summer semesters, as well as required face to face office hour time. Full load per each of three semesters is four courses for non-tenure track faculty.
- Provides excellence in instruction within the Nurse-Midwifery program including in the classroom, simulation lab, and clinical settings, to include the timely grading of assignments, provision of feedback, and timely posting of grades.
- Assesses the instructional needs of students in the Nurse-Midwifery program and helps coordinate the development of a plan to address these needs, including the development of individualized remediation plans as indicated.
- Participates in student academic and career advising and mentorship.
- Attends SON meetings regularly (unless time conflicts w/didactic or clinical coursework) and participates in SON and University committees.
- Participates in the annual events (Commencement, Sigma Theta Tau induction, etc.)
- Participates in marketing and student recruitment activities as requested to include open houses, campus visits and tours, recruitment visits to local schools, etc.
- Assists with program accreditation and other regulatory processes.
- Supervises teaching assistants assigned to courses, as required.
- Maintains accurate scholastic and attendance records of enrolled students and submits reports as requested.
- Represents the department division, or college at appropriate functions as requested.
- Promotes a positive working relationship across departments within the College of Nursing and Health.

- Active unrestricted Louisiana RN and APRN License
- Minimum of 5 years APRN experience as a Certified Nurse-Midwife
Preferred Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree (or enrolled in doctoral coursework)
- Previous undergraduate didactic, simulation and clinical teaching experience.
