Duties and Responsibilities
The Assistant Director - Financial Counselor is a critical member of the Financial Aid Team, providing guidance to Undergraduate and Graduate Students in all aspects of financing a Loyola University Chicago education.

Essential duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Providing excellent customer service to Students and Parents via phone, e-mail, walk-in, and other forms of engagement regarding all financial aid matters.
  • Conducting file review, preforms professional judgement, completes verification, and updates award packaging as required.
  • Monitoring/maintaining application statuses within the Student Information System.
  • Accessing federal and state systems (COD, NSLDS, GAP Access, FSA, etc.) to verify student aid eligibility.
  • Supporting the Financial Aid Office by managing specific program area(s) such as R2T4, SAP, FWS, Scholarships, Consortium, Veterans, etc.
  • Supporting the University through presentations to various public audiences including FAFSA workshops, financial wellness programs, orientations, and other admission events.
  • Collaborating with Campus Partners to provide a holistic approach to service.
  • Performing other duties as required.
Minimum Education and/or Work Experience
Bachelor's Degree in related field and three - five years of related experience, or a combination of education and work experience . A solid knowledge of federal and state regulations is essential.

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are a must.
  • Customer service experience preferred.
  • Must be able to work with a diverse student population.
  • Ability to think critically with an eye for detail.
  • Adaptable to change.
  • Must be able to work as part of a diverse Team.
  • Support students and families from all backgrounds.
  • Strong working knowledge of federal and state regulations is essential.
  • Ability to prioritize work and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • PeopleSoft experience highly preferred.
