Duties and Responsibilities |
Director of Student Life - SSOM The Director of Student Life - SSOM is an essential member of the Stritch School of Medicine (SSOM) Leadership Team and supports the Senior Associate Dean as they provide vision, direction, and coordination for medical school programs, initiatives, and policies. The Director contributes to policy creation and decisions on Students that affect their academic studies, health, and well-being. Primary responsibilities include the implementation of Programs and Services that support Student Counseling, Progress, Career Planning, and Well-Being. The Director is expected to practice, advocate, and promote the highest standards for scholarship, academic achievement, honesty, and professional integrity.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Primary responsibilities include Student Life programming, Student Leadership Development, and fostering and creating positive and mutually beneficial pathways for interaction and collaboration with individual Students, student groups, corporate student body, and student government.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS A master's degree in a relevant discipline plus a minimum of five years of progressively responsible student affairs and/or student life experience in a professional setting are required. Strong understanding of academic policies and procedures, mentoring and guiding a culturally diverse student body, and demonstrated experience advising students and graduate faculty on highly complex, confidential matters. Highly motivated, flexible, adaptable, and service-oriented, with strong collaborative skills for teamwork and consensus building among staff, faculty, and students. Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing daily environment and remain goal-oriented. Excellent oral and communication skills and strong presentation skills are required. Ability to work independently and cooperatively with others. Ability to set priorities and multi-task. Ability to learn and innovate as the needs of university and higher education evolve. Ability to articulate the values and mission of a Jesuit institution. Strong organizational skills are essential. Ability to occasionally work evenings and weekends. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Understanding medical student admissions, registration and records, financial aid, and funding processes. Familiarity with Stritch School of Medicine and Loyola University Chicago policies and procedures. |
