Duties and Responsibilities | The Lab Technician will participate in (i) Study design and project planning in collaboration with Dr. Stuart and colleagues; (ii) Procuring tissue samples from museums and colleagues; (iii) Mitogenome preparation and assembly; (iv) eDNA sampling; (v) eDNA library preparation and sequencing at the Field Museum of Natural History; (vi) Potentially bioinformatic analysis; and (vii) Potentially supervision of undergraduates during eDNA work. |
Minimum Education and/or Work Experience | Education Required: Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related field. Preferred: Master's Degree. Experience Required: 1 - 2 years of previous research experience in Medicinal Chemistry, Chemical Biology, Neuroscience, Molecular Biology, or Cell Biology. |
Qualifications | Applicants with at least an MS degree in Molecular Ecology, Ecological Genetics, Evolutionary Ecology, or a related field are preferred. Or, Applicants with a BS degree with equivalent experience with sequencing, generating genomes, and/or conducting eDNA research. The Applicant needs to have a valid Driver's License and be willing to drive a field vehicle. |
Certificates/Credentials/Licenses | Applicants with at least an MS Degree in Molecular Ecology, Ecological Genetics, Evolutionary Ecology, or a related field are preferred.
