Duties and Responsibilities |
Job Summary: The Lead Business & Systems Analyst supports optimizing Advancement systems and applications including Kindsight ascend and provides functional user support to meet business technical and systems requirements. This position is based in our Chicago (Lewis Towers) office, with the opportunity to work from home in the greater Chicago area. On occasion, an in-office presence in the Lewis Towers office may be required. Reporting to the Salesforce Administrator, the Lead Business & Systems Analyst supports optimizing Advancement systems and applications including Kindsight ascend and provides functional user support to meet business technical and systems requirements. Additionally, the Lead Business & Systems Analyst will play a critical role in the launch of an enterprise-wide database conversion for the Office of University Advancement. The analyst works closely with different departmental groups to understand current needs and provide technical assistance in addressing errors, problems, or questions with supported information systems. The Lead Business & Systems Analyst also consults with end users to understand, assess, and document business processes and recommends improving efficiency and effectiveness while ensuring system compliance and data integrity. * Serve as a subject-matter expert for Kindsight ascend. * Document and conduct gap analysis between current and future state business processes. * Performs business/software systems requirement analysis. Through consulting with stakeholders and subject-matter-experts, gathering functional and technical requirements to produce workflows and technical specifications. * Works with Advancement stakeholders to understand reporting needs, objectives, and constraints. * Contributes to the development of business optimization strategies for assigned projects. * Works effectively within a team of analysts to support and improve multiple project assignments. * Develops and maintains documentation regarding configuration, business processes, and rules. * Plans and executes data quality projects and data mapping, data migration, and data conversion activities, specifically the appropriate use of data tables, fields, and values, and works with appropriate technical staff to understand the impact on application and system architecture. * Translates stakeholder feedback into functional and technical requirements that align with the organization's reporting strategy. * Advises on acquiring, incorporating, and storing third-party data into ARD systems and its potential impact. * Coordinates meetings and presentations to share ideas and findings. * Serves as a critical collaborator in troubleshooting and solving system problems as they arise. * Assists end-users with identifying data integration points and functional dependencies within Kindsight ascend and other third-party systems and applications. * Analyzes business needs; meets functional needs by applying technical solutions; ensures system interfaces/operations and accesses follow information security and integrity policy and procedures. * Supports prioritizing technology support requests, projects, and upgrades for the assigned functional area with input from functional and cross-functional stakeholders. * Provide training and support to users of Kindsight ascend within the Advancement office. * Monitors the status of the third-party data loads, extracts, and file transmission between the organization and third-party vendors and applications. * Provides testing and feedback on new updates, processes, and applications. * Performs other related work as needed. |
Minimum Education and/or Work Experience | Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems preferred or equivalent combination of education (statistics, analytics) and experience. |
Qualifications | Preferred Qualifications * Salesforce CRM experience required. Ellucian Advance AWA experience preferred. * Experience working in a higher education or non-profit environment is strongly preferred. * Proven ability to assess business needs and translate them into relevant solutions. * Must be able to work independently, in a collaborative team environment. * Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical staff. * Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on a high degree of customer service satisfaction. * Expertise in analyzing and interpreting information, inefficiencies, and drawing conclusions from large data sets. * Possess excellent organizational and technical skills to diagnose problems in an environment with constantly changing priorities. * Proven adaptability and flexibility emphasizing thinking through varying approaches to solve complex problems by examining different angles to recommend solutions. |
