Duties and Responsibilities
The Director of Financial Aid and Scholarship (Director) is the primary leadership role at Loyola's Health Science Campus and oversees all aspects of Federal and Institutional Aid for Students at the Stritch School of Medicine (SSOM), Parkinson School of Health Sciences and Public Health, Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing, including ABSN, and other Graduate and Professional Students. This Position provides leadership and strategic oversight administration of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships, ensuring strict compliance with all State and Federal regulations. The Director reports to the Assistant Vice President.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Develops and executes a comprehensive scholarship strategy to attract a diverse and highly qualified Medical Student population.
- Leads the development and dissemination of Financial Aid reports to support strategic decision-making.
- Manages all aspects of Federal and Institutional Financial Aid programs, ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Administers $5M in Endowed, Gift, and Institutional Aid funds to new and continuing Students annually.
- Develops personalized Financial Counseling programs to Students and families on Financial Aid options, debt management, and loan repayment strategies.
- Works closely with the Director of Financial Aid Operations and Reporting on the set-up of student packaging for all SSOM Students.
- Develops and maintains reports required for the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) accreditation on an annual basis.
- Supports the Assistant Vice President on annual Federal audits.
- Manages Award, Delivery, Scholarship Fund Disbursement, Student Financial Aid Budgets, Document Tracking, and Budget revisions in PeopleSoft.
- Supports technical development of PeopleSoft and other Student Information Systems to ensure accurate enrollment and disbursement of Federal and Institutional funding.
- Serves as a resource for Students through walk-in, email, and phone services, ensuring high-quality service.
- Collaborates with the SSOM Admissions Office in awarding Scholarships and Financial Aid to prospective Students.
- Works closely with SSOM Student Affairs, Registration and Records, Development, and Finance offices to coordinate Scholarships and Financial Awards.
- Conducts presentations and workshops supporting the School of Medicine, School of Nursing, Parkinson School of Public Health, and other Academic Units.
- Oversees the nomination process for selective Awards, Scholarships, and external recognitions; Serves on Award Committees and manages Honors rograms.
- Develops and manages the Financial Aid office Budget and associated expenses.
- Ensures timely submission of all Financial Aid reports required by Federal, State, University, and private Agencies.
- Represents Financial Aid interests on SSOM, HSC, LUC, and LUMC committees.
- Supervises and provides performance evaluation for one FTE.
- Performs other duties as required to maintain efficient Financial Aid operations.
