A deli clerk is responsible for providing exceptional customer service as per Lil Pantry standards. The ideal candidate should be able to quickly process orders while following food safety and handling best practices.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure that each customer receives exceptional service by providing a friendly environment, which includes greeting and acknowledging every customer.
- Maintain a working knowledge of deli recipes and prepared foods specifications
- Cleans and stocks deli cases according to procedure, utilizing proper signage
- Accurately and efficiently prepare customer orders
- Reports to work for scheduled shifts, on-time and appropriately uniformed
- Communicate customer requests to management
- Maintains back-stock areas according to department standards
- Ensures that product is maintained to health department standards and alerts management in case of problems
- Complete assigned shift duties and verifies with management before leaving
- Performs other duties as assigned to meet business needs
Skills and Competencies
- Ability to read, count, and write to accurately complete all documentation
- Ability to safely operate all equipment necessary to perform the job
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and to move and handle merchandise and fixtures throughout the deli, which entails lifting, and perform all functions as set forth above
- Obtains and maintains Oregon state food handler’s card
- Ability to work varied hours/days, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed
