If so, then this could be the role for you!Job OverviewIn support of affiliated advisors and their high-net-worth clients, the AVP, Estate Planning Attorney will be a dedicated resource and member of the LPL High-Net-Worth Services Team. Acting in a specialist capacity, the role will collaborate with affiliated advisors by reviewing existing client estate documents / structures, developing potential solutions for client consideration, and presenting planning topics and concepts. In addition to working directly with affiliated financial advisors, this role would require interacting with end-clients and their tax / legal professionals.ResponsibilitiesEstate Planning Reviews – Review trusts (revocable and irrevocable), wills, and ancillary documents and break out the information into our deliverable. Flowchart the existing documents to show what happens at the death of each beneficiary.Proposed Estate Planning Strategies – Recognize problematic terms in trusts and wills and discuss what could have been done differently in the deliverable. Work with other estate planning attorneys to identify potential strategies for asset protection, income tax, or estate tax concerns. Create a new master flowchart depicting what the overall proposed strategies would look like.Case Management - Update the status of current cases and ensure all cases are being managed efficiently.Education and Training - Create educational content for advisor and team consumption in the form of topical white papers, case studies, and summaries of the ever-evolving tax and legal landscape. Author content for external trade publications and participate in the preparation of client-facing materials including fact finders and brochures.Public speaking – Convey advanced subject matter in small and large public speaking settings. This includes public speaking participation in webinars, conference calls, staff meetings, and main-stage presentations at LPL conferences. The role may include representing LPL Financial at external conferences, events and industry functions.RequirementsJuris Doctorate degree from an ABA accredited school5 years’ experience in estate planning and a strong understanding of the sub-trusts which are created in a revocable trust.PreferencesAdvanced designations preferred : CPA, LLMHighly collaborative with experience in servicing the needs of affluent and institutional clientsWillingness to travel if necessaryStrong teamwork, leadership and interpersonal skillsFamiliarity with Brentmark, Number Cruncher, or other software used for estate tax strategiesExcellent communication skills - verbal and written, creative problem-solving, effective decision making, ability to diffuse tense situations, ability to multi-task, good follow-up skills, upbeat and outgoing personality.
