Job Overview :
We are seeking a seasoned and dynamic public relations expert to help lead the firm’s inbound and outbound media relations and create effective PR strategies that result in positive coverage and foster a sense of trust and connection with our brand. The successful candidate will have a proven record of successful PR campaigns for large companies in addition to strong content creation skills, existing media relationships and the ability to manage and guide agency partners.
Reporting to our SVP, Public Relations and Communications, this leader will be responsible for media strategy and planning to increase proactive media outreach and improve planning and responsiveness. The person in this role will be responsible for partnering across the business to create strategy in support of the firm’s objectives and key results, leading public relations campaigns, including earned and social media, crisis communications support, thought leadership positioning and executive visibility.
This person brings a multi-stakeholder, business-driven mindset to public relations, with the ability to be proactive while also being mindful of potential reputational risks. As a subject matter expert within the public relations function, this person will have excellent partnership skills with an ability to quickly identify opportunities for storytelling and action. They will have a combination of experiences and transferrable skills that enable them to articulate PR campaign strategies, to combine long-term strategic thinking with an ability to opportunistically participate in news cycles, respond to crisis events, and to report on results using data-driven measurement and media analytics insights.
Responsibilities :
- Define LPL’s media strategy in to promote LPL’s corporate strategy, brand and client advocacy role in the industry
- Leverage and build relationships with targeted top-tier and trade media contacts within the financial services and business industries
- Lead a team of public relations subject matter experts across Corporate Strategy & Client Advocacy; Technology, Operations, Product / Platforms, and Services
- Act as a primary point person for the firm’s public relations agency and ensure all PR activities are aligned
- Create and execute public relations strategies and supporting activities, including press releases, media pitching, thought leadership / feature articles
- Establish regularly collaboration touchpoints with business stakeholders and subject matter expert partners (Investor Relations, Business Unit SMEs, Marketing, etc.) to ensure messaging alignment and coordination of communications activities
- Maintain and communicate a centralized view of all PR activities including planned press releases, campaigns, upcoming events & speaking, interview requests and outcomes
- Analyze and report monthly and quarterly on media metrics and KPIs, providing executive-level media analysis of news trends, competitor news, LPL coverage and industry topics.
- Proactively pitch new ideas for generating earned media coverage and lead the PR team’s execution of proactive media outreach
- Prepare executive spokespersons for media interviews using prepared briefing books, key messages and media Q&A
- Prepare media response and client response (as needed) to mitigate the impact of corporate reputational issues and crisis situations
- Manage and maximize agency resources to serve as an extension of the LPL PR team.
- Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality
- Manage, mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach on a consistent basis

136,400-$227,300 / yearActual base salary varies based on factors, including but not limited to, relevant skill, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location.
