Job Overview:

The VP, Platform Engineering – Data Center will lead data center engineering and migration activities for critical platforms at LPL. As a senior leader in I&O organization, you will have the opportunity to help define/execute data center design, strategy, and migration roadmap to future data cloud adjacent data centers cloud providers. This role will help define next generation data center architecture / platforms and will be accountable for all build and migration activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for execution and delivery of cloud adjacent data centers that improve resiliency and support rapid company growth. This includes build and decommission of new and existing data center infrastructure and platforms.
  • Responsible for defining and executing a robust data center migration plan ensuring data integrity, minimal downtime to applications/platforms and without negative impact to business operations
  • Responsible for successful design and implementation of local and regional failover capabilities
  • Responsible for development of rigorous testing and validation of migrated infrastructure, platforms and applications
  • Collaborate with IT stakeholders to develop, communicate and execute a multi-year data center strategy to simplify architecture, delivery model and drives transformational change.
  • Establish monitoring and performance management processes to track and optimize the performance of applications and platforms to meet company SLAs
  • Accelerate infrastructure transformation to provision / manage infrastructure through infrastructure as code (IaC) to enable self-service and reduce handoffs.
  • Lead deployment automation and provisioning of highly available infrastructure across data centers/hybrid cloud platform to reduce overall time to market.
  • Design/build/migrate core infrastructure platforms and services to future data centers to improve overall availability, performance and scalability.
  • Partner with Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity organizations to integrate disaster recovery processes with day-to-day technology engineering and operations.
  • Build / Maintain strong partnerships with IT stakeholders including Infrastructure, Delivery Engineering, Application Development, Architecture, Security and Operations to ensure technology investment enables/drives business strategy.
  • Foster and drive organizational change through technology and process optimization.
  • Establish KPIs to measure organization performance and effectiveness (Jira, SNOW )
  • Manage ongoing vendor relationships including evaluation products and services
  • Develop / attract / retain top talent to build and maintain a world class organization
  • Identify and eliminate risks in the environment that threaten stability, resiliency, performance, and security

Requirements:

  • 10 years of progressive leadership experience building / leading engineering teams in a large, global financial institutions
  • 5 years of experience leading migration of infrastructure and applications to new data centers and cloud
  • Extensive knowledge of Datacenter infrastructure technologies and their interaction with applications they support.
  • Demonstrated technology and people leadership experience in architecting/deploying highly scalable platforms on-prem and cloud.
  • Proven track record of infrastructure transformation focused on infrastructure-as-code (IaC) for end-to-end infrastructure deployment automation.
  • Experience leading engineering teams using Agile software development and LEAN/DevOps principles to deliver new platforms and services
  • Experience with open telemetry including Prometheus, Grafana, ELK , AWS Distro
  • Experience with IT Service Management (ITIL and ITMS)
  • Bachelor’s/Advance degree and/or related field experience required

  • Extensive experience working in large technology ecosystems with emphasis on integrating multiple externally facing high scale, high volume, always-on mission-critical systems
  • Ability to create and articulate inspiring vision for the organization
  • Experience with a data driven approach to designing and implementing technology
  • Highly collaborative with experience in leading and influencing teams.
  • Foster a culture of excellence and ownership
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the regulatory, security, privacy and risk safeguards required of a global financial institution

  • Agile Methodologies: Scrum/Kanban; Jira for delivery and reporting
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; strong executive presence

Pay Range:

$186,525-$310,875/year

Actual base salary varies based on factors, including but not limited to, relevant skill, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location.
