What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intern, Environmental Health and Safety position at LPX Group?
Purpose –
As a key member of the Environmental Health and Safety Team, this role would assist in the implementation of company policies and procedures, daily job-site visits and audits, and incident investigation and reporting.
Duties and Responsibilities –
- Review and maintain the company’s Environmental Health and Safety Program, to include formally written site-specific plans that are updated based on company needs and changing safety requirements.
- Monitor programs for compliance with existing and new OSHA Standards; analyzes and reviews policies and programs
- Perform various departmental and field assignments including jobsite visits, safety system monitoring, and operational team members engagements.
- Participate in job safety audits.
- Assist EHS team members with various duties assigned.
- Support compliance with all federal, state, local, and industry specific safety, health and environmental regulations.
- Use various systems such as Power Bi, the Microsoft Office Suite, and telematics to prepare reports, analyze data, and make recommendations for improving safety.
- Participate in various job-related activities as assigned.
- Some overtime may be required.
- Providing corrective action recommendations.
- All other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities –
- Strong interpersonal skills: must work well in teams and be able to develop relationships.
- Comfortable discussing safety behavior and performance opportunities with employees and leaders across the organization.
- Understanding of construction projects and OSHA Standard 1926.
- Ability to focus on multiple tasks, complete projects, and paperwork on time.
- Strong work ethic and high degree of initiative.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Experience in writing reports.
Education and Experience –
- General knowledge of safety regulations, policies, and standards.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Must be a full or part-time student currently pursuing a career in environmental health and safety.
- Knowledge of safety regulations, policies, and standards.
- Prior experience in health and safety or related field or full part-time student currently pursuing a career in environmental health and safety.
