What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Engineer - Survey position at LPX Group?
Purpose –
The primary responsibility of the Project Engineer is to support the Survey Manager with all facets of construction surveying. This may include drone flights, 3D model creation & manipulation, calculation of staking points, and many other crucial tasks. This is an entry-level position which will provide the opportunity to learn not only intricacies of construction surveying but will be an introduction to civil construction as a whole. This position has multiple paths for career opportunity & advancement within the LPX Group family of businesses.
Duties and Responsibilities –
- Verify accuracy of construction drawings and cad files.
- Create Machine Control Models for grading and utilities.
- Calculate points for layout as needed for curbs, storm structures, culverts, bridges, etc.
- Process topographic surveys and provide takeoff support on earthwork quantities during project.
- Organize and maintain as-built information coordinating with field crews on data.
- Maintain an up-to-date TBC file and pdf file of project as revisions are made.
Skills and Abilities –
- Extensive knowledge of AutoCAD, Trimble Business Center and Propeller.
- Knowledge of all machine control file types.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail a must.
- Ability to keep up to date with advancement in technology.
- Able to work independently and prioritize workflow.
- Education and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field preferred.
- Two plus years of experience in construction layout preferred but willing to train.
