What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Manager, Blasting position at LPX Group?
The blasting Project Manager manages blasting construction projects from their inception to the completion of the life cycle. The position is responsible for managing daily activities and issues related to completing a blasting project, including overall planning, scheduling, cost accounting, quality control, safety management, labor and equipment resources, owner relationships, compliance, record keeping, and estimating.
Duties and Responsibilities –
§ Oversees blasting projects from estimating through construction completion
§ Develop a schedule that is updated and communicated to the overall Project Manager and Superintendent, all subcontractors, owners, and field personnel to ensure timely project(s) completion
§ Responsible for controlling costs and maintaining profitability for the project(s), utilizing extensive construction experience
§ Continually monitors project(s) to ensure company and regulatory procedures are adhered to including Federal ATF and State Laws and Regulations including record keeping
§ Monitors project(s) purchasing activities to assure quality material and timely delivery at competitive costs.
§ Coordinates with engineers, inspectors, and clients/owner representatives to isolate project issues and assists construction management in developing solutions.
§ Reviews field construction activity, engineering, and other field project(s) support activities with construction management and provides support in ensuring projects remain on schedule.
§ Conducts regular project(s) inspections and advises project(s) supervision of work progress and quality of work.
§ Continuously supports safety and aids supervision in addressing areas and conditions requiring attention.
§ Coordinates with Operations Manager to monitor backlog, crew availability, and provide revenue projections.
§ Tracks historical data including unit costing and production quantities to assist in future estimates.
Education and Experience –
§ Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred.
§ Experience estimating and understanding blasting operations costs strongly preferred.
§ Experience working on a blasting crew or managing blasting operations preferred.
§ Previous experience working as a Field Engineer, Project Engineer/Manager, or estimator on Construction projects.
§ Proven ability to create and manage budget.
§ Strong leadership, teamwork, problem solving, and analytical skills.
§ Strong prioritization and organizational skills; detail oriented.
§ Proficient in technology (computer/specialized software/GPS equipment)
