Overview :
The Maintenance Engineer at Palm House is responsible for ensuring the hotel’s physical infrastructure, systems, and equipment are properly maintained to provide a safe and comfortable environment for guests and staff. This role involves performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and responding to maintenance requests for both guest rooms and public areas. The Maintenance Engineer must possess strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities :
Preventive Maintenance : Conduct regular inspections of hotel facilities and systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, etc.) to identify potential issues. Perform scheduled maintenance to ensure all systems are in good working order.
Repairs & Troubleshooting : Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, as well as any other building systems or equipment. Address guest complaints or issues related to maintenance in guest rooms, public spaces, and hotel facilities.
Guest Requests : Respond to maintenance requests from guests and staff, addressing issues in a timely manner to minimize disruption to guests’ experiences. Prioritize urgent requests and ensure effective follow-up.
Equipment & System Upkeep : Ensure that all equipment, tools, and machinery are in safe working condition. Perform routine maintenance tasks, including but not limited to changing light bulbs, replacing filters, servicing HVAC units, and maintaining plumbing systems.
Safety & Compliance : Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations. Maintain a safe working environment for hotel staff and guests by addressing hazards such as faulty equipment or safety violations. Report any concerns immediately to management.
Record Keeping : Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including repair work, inspections, and replacements. Track inventory levels for maintenance supplies and request new stock as necessary.
Emergency Response : Be available for emergency maintenance needs, such as electrical failures, plumbing issues, or HVAC breakdowns. Respond to maintenance emergencies outside of regular working hours when necessary.
Collaboration : Work closely with the hotel’s housekeeping, front desk, and management teams to coordinate efforts and address any maintenance-related needs, ensuring minimal disruption to hotel operations.
Facility Upkeep : Maintain the cleanliness of the maintenance areas and tools. Ensure that hotel infrastructure and facilities, both public and guest-facing, remain in top condition.
Qualifications :
- Previous experience as a maintenance engineer, hotel maintenance, or in a similar facility maintenance role is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, and general building systems.
- Ability to use tools and equipment related to building maintenance and repair.
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems efficiently.
- Knowledge of safety and compliance standards in maintenance practices.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to preventive maintenance.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work with a diverse team.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
