What will I do:
The Controller will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives of the Company’s accounting functions. In this role, you will work closely with the VP of Accounting to lead, guide, and provide oversight for all accounting and finance activities across the organization. Key priorities include technical accounting expertise, leading the monthly close process, preparing budgeting and forecasting, and identifying process efficiencies to promote continuous improvement.
Day in the Life:
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the preparation and ongoing monitoring of the company’s budgets and forecasts, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation and delivery of financial reports for senior leadership. Ensure accuracy and clarity in all financial statements, while providing insightful analysis to support strategic decision-making.
- Monthly Close: Manage and direct the monthly financial close process, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and promptly. Oversee journal entries, account reconciliations, and the preparation of financial statements that reflect the true financial position of the company.
- Treasury Management: Oversee the company’s treasury functions, including cash flow management, banking relationships, and liquidity management. Ensure the optimization of cash resources and the company’s ability to meet financial obligations.
- Payroll & Commissions: Supervise the payroll function, including payroll processing, compliance with tax regulations, and commission calculations.
- Process Efficiencies & Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for process improvements and drive initiatives aimed at increasing operational efficiency across the finance and accounting functions.
- Internal Controls & Compliance: Ensure adherence to financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets. Monitor compliance with financial regulations and industry standards.
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting and finance team to create a collaborative and high-performing environment that drives continuous improvement and supports the company’s goals.
Who Am I:
I am an experienced finance professional with 5-10 years of relevant experience in accounting and finance, and a strong technical accounting background. I am skilled in driving operational efficiency, leading the monthly close process, and managing budgets and forecasts. I have a proven track record of successfully leading and mentoring teams to meet financial and organizational goals. I excel in identifying process improvements and ensuring compliance with industry standards. A CPA is preferred but not required. I’m passionate about team development, continuous learning, and fostering a culture of growth and engagement.
Additional Qualifications:
- 5-10 years of relevant experience, with at least five years in a leadership role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required, with preference given to candidates with advanced degrees.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge with expertise in monthly close, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Experience with NetSuite or Workday is a plus.
- Proficient in advanced Excel functions and financial reporting.
- Passionate about team development, process efficiencies, and continuous improvement.
