What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facility Maintenance Technician position at LS Cable & System U S A Inc?
ESSENTIAL PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION:
The Facilities Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing general facilities and yard maintenance repairs at designated facilities, coordinating the disposal of hazardous materials (batteries, drums, oil), tracking fluid inventory and coordinating vendor repairs to the facility. Reviews work orders with Supervisor to determine priorities and updates work order log as work is completed. Conduct daily walk through of general facilities and grounds to evaluate the need for repair or general upkeep. Use various hand and power tools and operate all types of machinery. Strong HVAC or Electrical skills are preferred.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Must respond to plant emergency issues within the guidelines of the PEO (Plant Emergency Operations)
- Maintain all facilities and facilities service systems in support of 24*7 operation of manufacturing plant
- Perform multi-craft tasks associated with facilities maintenance
- Preventive maintenance and maintenance duties such as filtration system changes, greasing and oiling of motors, gears, etc.
- Inspect and adjust belts and pulleys. Replace ballast in light fixtures, replace bearings and perform other building, system and equipment repairs.
- Handle preventive maintenance and equipment downtime situations and procedures
- Identify the root cause of problems and countermeasures to prevent recurrence.
- Perform repairs to and PMs on pumps, conveying systems, piping, etc.
- Check off materials from packing slip when received orders
- Perform assigned tasks in a safe, effective, and efficient manner.
- Assist in keeping facilities, tools, and equipment in good order and clean.
- Perform other duties as directed by Maintenance Supervisor.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Read, write, perform mathematical calculations, understand verbal or written instructions, provide verbal or written information to others, work continuous shift if requested, work scheduled or unscheduled overtime if requested, maintain a good attendance and punctuality record, follow all safety rules and maintain housekeeping in area of responsibility, work well with others, and distinguish colors correctly.
- Requires considerable moving about in maintaining efficient workflow. Some lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, kneeling, etc. may be required when assisting employees and/or substituting during absences, during peak periods, or at other specified times. Occasional lifting of up to 100 lbs. will be necessary when conducting job duties.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Employee must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence, and have the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. The employee will participate in the development and writing of PM’s and work procedures.
