EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-Year College or Technical school and five to seven years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS: ISO 9001 Internal Auditor Preferred
ESSENTIAL PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION:
Supervise quality department consisting of hourly employees in Power cable manufacturing facility and responsible for preparing certified test reports to customers. Work with other departments in manufacturing in developing Quality Assurance & Testing procedures and improving manufacturing processes.
Work with internal and external customers on quality & process improvements. Develop positive customer relationships in responding to customer feedback.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Analyzes and interprets industry, customer, and company product specifications to determine quality standards of finished product.
- Formulates and maintains quality control standards and coordinates with production areas in cooperation with other plant supervision to maximize product reliability and minimize faulty production and costs.
- Supports the assigned areas of responsibility regarding technical interpretation and implementation of industry, customer, and/or company quality requirements as well as assist personnel in performing job tasks as needed.
- Supervises the verification of all quality assurance tests based on computerized test set specification charts.
- Reviews and summarizes daily test reports to record and report on quality problems and/or patters of defects.
- Works with re-spooling area concerning disposition non-conforming and/or defective cable.
- Prepares and maintains data for special and regular periodic reports for industry, customer or company purposes.
- Supervises employees engaged in calibration, inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over equipment, materials, facilities and products.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Requires exercise of analytical effort, initiative, ingenuity and judgment which will result in better quality, higher output and lower cost.
- Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence, memos and customer specifications. Ability to write correspondence, reports and perform computations. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals, geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
- Light physical effort typical for office and quality functions.
- Normal workloads assigned with frequent pressure imposed to complete projects and work assignment in time to meet production target dates.
- Need to have the ability to work in a fast- paced environment involved in a manufacturing facility.
