Fitness Sub
Summary:
The Fitness Sub monitors the fitness floor, provides assistance to members as needed, and seeks to welcome and encourage those members who may be new to exercise. The Fitness Specialist must be willing to go above and beyond the call of duty to ensure a safe and outstanding experience for all members.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)
- Maintains the fitness floor and equipment in a meticulously detailed and functional manner
- Helps or offers suggestions to individuals who are new to exercise
- Demonstrates proper operation of fitness equipment, such as resistance machines, cardio machines, free weights, or fitness assessment devices
- Remains vigilant and monitors all areas of the fitness floor by walking throughout the assigned areas for the duration of the shift
- Has a solid understanding of how each piece of exercise machine works and can properly make adjustments for individual members
- Is prepared to help members at all times and seeks out opportunities to help and/or correct exercise form
- Ensures fitness floor towels are stocked and readily available for members
- Upholds LSE’s culture of customer service by seeking out opportunities to engage members through eye contact, smile, and learning members’ names
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs the Essential Functions and Responsibilities as described (other duties may be assigned)
- Remains competent in administering LSE’s Emergency Action Plan and is alert and prepared for any emergency
- If unable to work, proactively seeks substitutes for shifts and immediately informs supervisor of the substitution
- Wears proper uniform at all times while at work and always presents the LSE brand and standard anytime and anywhere the LSE uniform is worn
- If not already certified, attends CPR and First Aid training provided by LSE and maintains current CPR/FA certification for the duration of employment
- When supervisor or team members call or email, promptly returns contact
- Exhibits a positive attitude at all times and upholds LSE’s values of teamwork, customer service, and engagement
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED required
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Experience working in a fitness setting highly desired
- Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications a plus
- Superior customer service skills
- Must be friendly and approachable
- Highly dependable and prompt
- Excellent communication skills
- Able to work varied shifts, including days
- Must be able to stand, walk, sit, reach, and bend for the duration of a shift
- Able to successfully demonstrate proper exercise techniques and use of equipment
- Must enjoy working in a team environment
- Willing and able to respond immediately and appropriately to multiple or unexpected situations or emergencies
- Safety and customer service oriented
