What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intern - Graphic Design and Visual Communications position at LSG?
LSG, an impact agency specializing in brand building, corporate reputation management, and public affairs, seeks creative, detail-oriented interns looking to gain hands-on experience in graphic design and visual communications. You'll work directly with our account teams to bring client campaigns to life through compelling visuals while developing your portfolio.
Our internship program offers recent graduates and college students up to 30 hours a week of hands-on experience working at the nexus of public policy, communications, brand, and advocacy.
Interns work in person at our downtown DC office. The summer internship program will run from May 27 to August 15.
We're looking for team players with strong communication, research, and critical thinking skills who can thrive in our fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist in designing digital and print materials, including social media graphics, newsletters, reports, and presentations
- Support the development of visual assets for client campaigns, events, and public-facing materials
- Help maintain brand consistency across all internal and external communications
- Collaborate with account teams to translate strategy and messaging into compelling visuals
- Contribute to brainstorming sessions and creative concept development
- Prepare and package files for production and vendor delivery
- Edit and resize existing designs for various formats and platforms
- Assist in maintaining the firm’s creative asset library and design templates
- Stay up-to-date on design trends and contribute fresh ideas to the team
- Provide general design support as needed across client and internal projects
Qualifications
- Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or a related field
- Strong portfolio showcasing design work across digital and/or print media
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (especially Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop); familiarity with Canva or Figma is a plus
- Understanding of basic design principles: typography, layout, color theory, and branding
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Self-starter with a willingness to learn and take creative initiative
- Experience in motion graphics and/or video editing is a plus
- Interest in public relations, communications, or social impact work is a bonus
