Summary:
The Maintenance Reliability Engineer is responsible for maintaining and improving the reliability of equipment used in the production of specialty chemicals through data analysis, managing the equipment maintenance program, and collaborating with stakeholders in Operations, HSE, Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance. Receives functional guidance from the Maintenance Manager. May include other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities:
- Investigate equipment failures to understand the underlying causes and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Design/specify new equipment, inspect/repair existing mechanical equipment, and support major machinery overhauls and replacements. Specify scope of work required and technical details to ensure successful execution.
- Manage equipment maintenance program, including predictive, preventative, and precision technologies and strategies, to identify and control risks prior to failure and ensure optimum maintenance execution. Analyze data to ensure activities are being conduct in accordance with established timeline and quality standards.
- Identify, prioritize, and execute improvement opportunities to achieve cost reductions through extended parts life, reduced labor costs, and other parts-related improvement techniques.
- Maintain and monitor Safety, Regulatory, and Process Critical Spare Inventory. Recommend inventory levels and removals. Responsible for inventory reporting and control, including ensuring inventory in SAP is accurate.
- Ensure proper planning for parts staging for plant turnarounds, shutdowns, and overhauls.
- Lead maintenance and reliability activities to improve asset reliability, reduce downtime, and optimize maintenance activities. Develop and analyze reliability metrics (Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), Mean Time to Repair (MTTR), and other Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Ensure repair, repair techniques, and equipment specific trainings are documented and made available. Deliver training, when required.
- Ensure maintenance related procedures, checklists, job safety analysis (JSA), and other related documentation is accurate and up to date.
- Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, HSE, Engineering, Quality, and other identified stakeholders to ensure effective plant support. Support production, maintenance, and other teams.
- Manage small to mid-sized capital projects
- Other duties as directed.
Skills & Competencies:
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Basic understanding of preventive and predictive maintenance concepts
- Demonstrated use of inventory software, order processing systems, project management software, and MS office programs, including excel.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and presentation skills
- Familiar with mechanical codes and standards
- Proficient project management skills
- Strong problem-solving skills
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical or mechanical engineering
- 3 years of engineering, maintenance, or project experience in a refinery, pipeline, or chemical process environment
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Process Safety Management (PSM) systems experience
- Rotating and Fixed Equipment experience
- SAP experience
