Summary:

The Senior Project Engineer, Equipment supports the injection equipment program by leading the injection equipment design.  This includes designing injection equipment to ensure operability, reliability, supply, and cost effectiveness. Receives functional guidance from the Manager, Equipment Design. Role is not limited to the above listed responsibilities and may include other duties as assigned.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Promotes and ensures safety of the manufacturing and operation of injection equipment
  • Provides engineering support for injection equipment program to ensure reliable injection for customers.
  • Works on complex projects of large scope; may refer to precedents and defined parameters.
  • Ensures injection equipment complies with customer and all local and national regulatory requirements and standards including but not limited to UL, OSHA, ATEX and CSA
  • Ensures all fabricated and refurbished skids are functioning properly and have proper certifications prior to shipment to customer sites
  • Creates and maintains injection equipment procedures, technical documentation, and new equipment prove-outs
  • Assists in managing the injection equipment capital spend
  • Provides injection equipment training to new hires, FSRs, other LSPI employees, customers and others
  • Manages equipment design control and equipment MOC processes and projects

  • Communicates and interfaces openly and frequently with project managers, project engineers and other managers of discipline engineers. Participates in periodic project reviews and client discussions, as required, to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Installation of electrical equipment and instruments on the skid as well as control panels. Skid electrical wiring as well as other electrical installations.
  • Ability to use a wide variety of specific industry instrumentation that records, indicates and controls the regulation of flow, pressure, temperature and position.
  • Knowledge of the power distribution up to 480V, motor control center & variable speed drives.
  • Drawings & Documents: loop diagrams, l&E arrangement, heat trace isometrics, wiring diagrams, single line diagrams, control and motor schematics, instrument & equipment datasheet, cable schedule, I/0 lists, power & utility schedule, load lists, cause & effect diagram etc.
  • Actively participates in the project kick of meeting to develop the Basic Engineering Design Document for each project.
  • Develops project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans - conferring with management
  • Prepares l&E equipment technical specifications and equipment RFQs to request budgetary or firm pricing to support estimating or project department.
  • Contributes to the development of client proposal and project cost estimates.
  • Assures all l&E engineering design meet applicable codes and standards including company & customer standards.
  • Coordinates with vendors and subcontractors as required.
  • Design and install process control systems and related projects
  • Provide technical support for process control, instrumentation, and measurement technologies
  • Offer engineering and design expertise for control system upgrades
  • Provide guidance and support for process control project scope and estimates
  • Participate in operational training related job scope
  • Understanding of basic and complex regulatory control & safety systems
  • Proficiency in Engineering and Design of PLC Based Control systems and Motor Control Schematic wiring and functionality
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written and the ability to work both independently and with others in the organization
  • Willingness to travel to skid fabricators, material suppliers, other LSPI business offices and injection sites as necessary (estimated 5-15% travel)

       

      Education & Experience:

      • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
      • Minimum six years of related work experience including PLC programming
      • Experience in Programming and maintaining ladder logic systems (TIA Portal preferred)
      • Demonstrated knowledge of CSA C22.2, NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, NFPA 87, NEC, IEC, API-500, ISA, and IEC
      • Electrical and Control Systems design and troubleshooting experience
      • Registered Professional Engineer or EIT Certification
      • Demonstrated operational or process engineering experience
      • Demonstrated project management experience
