What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant/Associate Professor position at LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans?
The Department of Physical Therapy at the LSU Health Sciences Center, School of Allied Health in New Orleans, invites applications for a 12-month faculty position at the Assistant/Associate Professor level on either the clinical or tenure track. Applicants with expertise in cardiopulmonary or pediatrics are strongly encouraged to apply. Faculty will participate in integrated classroom and group learning experiences. The curriculum is learner-centered with case-based, independent, and group learning facilitated by the faculty through Socratic discussions, and problem-solving. Team teaching is frequently utilized, and students have opportunities for integrated clinical experiences in neighboring clinical settings as part of classroom preparation.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and/or abilities required to fill the role of the 12-month faculty position:
• Possess and maintain contemporary knowledge and skill/expertise in the areas of assigned teaching.
• Communicate effectively with faculty, staff and students.
• Demonstrate excellent organizational ability in areas related to course planning, curriculum assessment, course management, and assignments.
• Understand the contemporary clinical practice of physical therapy as it relates to regulatory and legal issues that may affect the didactic and/or clinical education of students.
• Demonstrate multi-tasking ability in execution of faculty roles/responsibilities as it relates to teaching, service, scholarship, and mentorship of students.
• Conduct evidence-informed instruction, and use/integrate learning management system applications in the classroom to create, deliver, and track educational content and student progress.

The Department of Physical Therapy and the clinical programs within the LSU Health Sciences Center—New Orleans enjoy an integrated, collaborative relationship. In addition, the program also has collaborative relationships with surrounding health care facilities and is part of the LSU Health Care network for South Louisiana including: LCMC Health (University Medical Center, East Jefferson Hospital, Children’s Hospital), Ochsner Health, Veterans Health Care System, and Pennington Biomedical Research Center. The Department of Physical Therapy has spacious educational, office and clinical spaces. The department has 3 research lab spaces with assorted equipment including: NeuroCom, Biodex, GAITRite, and Motion/Video Analysis.
