Position Summary
Under the general supervision of the Cancer Center Director and direct supervision of the Business Manager, the Associate Business Manager (ABM) will provide professional level administrative support for all business aspects of the department and Cancer Center Clinical Trials Office by managing the financial functions related to clinical trials including, but not limited to, opening clinical trials, creating budgets, negotiating terms of covered patient services, invoicing, and monitoring spending of open trials . The incumbent will be responsible for adhering to all relevant rules, regulations and procedures while driving more efficient processes and maximizing resources in support of the Department of Medicine, School of Medicine, and LSUHSC’s mission. This includes but is not limited to, ensuring that all expenditures are within available sources of funds and are appropriate for the projects and source of funding. The incumbent is responsible for implementing and adhering to all relevant rules, regulations, and policies of the University, the State, and the Federal Government as they relate to the administration and financial operations of departmental programs, contracts, grants, and other activities.
The ABM will assist the Director of Contracts Management with submissions and contractual agreements to include, but not limited to, clinical trial-related purchasing, service, federal subcontracts and, letters of agreement for all Cancer Center federal grants, non-federal grants/contracts and pharmaceutical companies, as well as, coordinating invoicing and billing with both the Clinical Trials Office, Sponsored Projects, hospitals and pharmaceutical companies. The ABM may also support all aspects of the Cancer Center Clinical Trials Office HR-related submissions. The ABM will assist the Business Manager with monthly account reconciliations, reviewing expenditure reports, and tracking individual faculty spending. The ABM will serve as a backup for payroll entry and assist with department operational activities. All duties must be accomplished with a high degree of independence, timeliness, confidentiality, and initiative.
