Description
The Fiscal Analyst occupies a responsible position within the Budget Office and will assist the Assistant Director in meeting assigned objectives and responsibilities. The Fiscal Analyst will be expected to demonstrate initiative and professional expertise in exercising duties and functions and must be prepared to meet assigned responsibilities with limited supervision. Incumbent works under the general supervision of the Assistant Director of Budget.
This position impacts a range of consumers and operational and service activities within the LSU Ochsner Academic Medical Center.
Regular attendance is required to perform the functions of this position.
Incumbent will maintain a customer-oriented awareness in acknowledging and responding to needs as they occur that customer satisfaction is met at all times.
Essential Position Functions & Duties
(35%) Assist in the development and preparation of the annual State Budget Request. This will involve the preparation of forecasts based on cost and price analysis. statistical and quantitative studies and trend analysis. Assist departments in estimating expenditures and revenues and preparing various forms used in compiling State Budget Request.
(25%) Prepare management reports that accurately and clearly summarize the status of budgeted operations in relation to current expenditure and income experience for all assigned areas of responsibility.
(10%) Monitor operating statistics that have an impact upon actual revenue and expenditures and projections. Prepare timely management reports that summarize business and operating statistics in a format that supports decision-making.
(10%) Assist the Assistant Director in authorizing availability of funds for prior approval for travel, equipment, and personnel requisitions. Provide support to the Assistant Director in preparing status reports for management.
(10%) Assist and provide support in researching and preparing financial and informational data to Governing state agencies and offices concerning all current and prior fiscal year operating funds. Contact on a continuous basis with various LSUHSC departments for this information is needed.
Non-Essential Position Functions & Duties
(10%) Perform other duties as directed by the Assistant Director.
Qualifications
Applicant must meet one of the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited university, plus a minimum of five (5) years of professionally related experience.
- Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, or related field from an accredited university.
- Candidate must demonstrate proficiency with database management/excel, critical thinking and analytical skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, and professional customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
- Proven experience with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, Access,
- Teams, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with Peoplesoft, including the Financials module.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Previous work experience in Revenue Cycle, Reimbursement, and Budgeting in an academic/healthcare setting.
